how to polish satin aluminum

i just bought this for my dad for his bday
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=7925344972 theyre discontinued so i had to get the leftover satin one. how do i polish it just wet sand it with a high grit sandpaper and just start buffing away?

Yeah start off with like 800 then 1000 then 1500 then polish with a wheel preferrably.
