Door locks

Wasnt sure which part of the forums to put this under, so here it goes:

The driver side door lock has a bar (that connects to the locking mechanism on the door bezel) that is held in place by a "C" clip on a third gen Trans Am.

What is that "C" clip called? Anyone just happen to have an exploded view of the inside of a TA door to maybe see part numbers?

It's a small part, and without disassembling my passenger side door, I'm not entirely sure what it looks like so that I could describe it well to a parts person.

Stupid thing disappeared and rubber O-rings just dont last long enough to hold the locking bar in place.

I imagine its very much like the one in my Monte. I think I have a spare one at home I could take a pic of for ya. The clip is basically a square with a notch and a hole in the middle. A good auto parts guy would probably know what it is, and they should have it on the HELP! rack of parts (near the door handles).

Thanks guys. I'd offer to buy one (or more) but I dont get up to north Jersey much, and shipping it would cost just as much as the part I bet.

Steve, if its easy, could you send me a picture of the "C" clip please? I tried explaining it to the Autozone kid behind the desk who sent me to three different isles, none of which had what I think I need.

Thanks!

Well, I just searched. I found both door handles, and neither of them have clips on them. Sorry!

lemme look... hold on...
Untamed.. are you goign to the trucks gathering tonight?

dahm, no luck in my parts boxes(nuts bolts clips etc)
i may have put them in the center console of the monet which my GF drives. i'll check there tonight.
However, if you read this before the trucks meet and your going, let me know, and describe it as good as possible, ill rip one from one of the 10 or so 3rd gen doors i have in my backyard and bring it down tonight.

Steve, are you talking about the metal clip that pushes through and sorta tas a tab on one side a little lower that hols the clip in place? if that it i found those, but the clip im thinking of is like a plastic/nylon clip that goes in the hole with the rod and then "swings" around to hold the bar.

Yep, I believe that's the one he needs. They usually get lost in the bottom of the door; I think that's why the ones I ~should~ have, are MIA.

Thanks guys. Stopped by AutoZone and picked up a blister of various size C clips. Based on the descrips you gave the folks there think these will fit.

Now I need to remove the panel and water deflector again. </sigh>
