So my Dad's buying an '06 GTO...
He's 99% sure about it. Brazen Orange, 6-speed. He's been wanting one since 2004. I'm guessing when he heard recently that they're not going to be around much longer, it gave him the extra nudge to go for it. Plus his everyday car is a '93 Intrepid with over 130,000 miles on it...so he can definitely use a new car. He went to a few dealers and one of them has the car described on their lot. The couple dealers he went to said that after March they can't take anymore orders for them. So all he has to do now is give them the deposit tomorrow and then the deal is closed. So my dad will now have (if all goes as planned) his '78 Vette and a nice new Goat. I'm excited. I think the GTO is a great car and can't wait to drive it! Once it arrives I'll definitely post up some pics

I got dibs on first ride!! 06 got a nice touch with the rear tail lights.
I deffinatly think that Im gunna pick up an 04 or 05 GTO after the Maxx is done, and ride that out for a while till I cna get my hands on a 5th gen Z28.
Congrats to your dad!! Its deffinatly comfy enough to be a daily driver, and has more then enough power for when its not!!

To answer Ian's question first, for '06 they blacked out the tail lights as opposed to the normal red lenses — looks really nice.
The timming couldn't be better, just before spring. My dad and I usually go to shows a lot with our cars, so I'm sure he'll take the GTO to a few of them. I'm just so glad he's getting the 6spd! My Firehawk's an A4, and I didn't really have a choice because it was used and that's the only thing I would change. So having a car to take out once in a while and go through the gears with will be nice.
I just hope I ain't jinxing the deal here, because he keeps asking me, "Do you really think I should get it?" I'm like, "YESSSS!" What's interesting too, in 1966 he bought a brand new GTO and here 40 years later he's doing the same thing.

Yep. He's had his eye on it since they first got it on their lot. My neighbor got his '05 GTO there too. They seem to be a pretty fair dealer because with both my Dad and my neighbor, they both walked in knowing what they wanted to pay and Royal gave them their price. The other dealers my dad went to wouldn't go lower than the sticker.

My dad just closed the deal on the GTO. They said we'll be able to pick the car up on Saturday. This is going to rule

On Saturday I'm gonna snap some quick pics to post up. But yeah, once the weather starts getting better, I'd like to get some good shots of the GTO and the Hawk, and some with the two and my Dad's Vette as well. Anyone know any nice places to take pics around Bergen County? I'll have to start scouting some spots out.
