Anyone have a stock computer/chip for Speed Density? Come in.

Hi. Anyone have a stock computer or chip for a 91 5.7 TPI? I dont know what other computer / chip years will work. Basically I just want to plug it into my car. My dad thinks its the computer / chip that got "fried" somehow. I just want to make him happy and eliminate that possiblity.

Thanks, Mike.

You need a MAF computer and chip, if it's an '89 harness. The ECM number ends in 165. A Speed Density ECM won't plug in.

Ehhh....

Well it is definently a Speed Density setup (if not I think I found the problem) The engine was out of an 89, could very well be the 91 setup

1990-1992 were speed density. 1993 was too, but I dont think that would work. everything else is MAF. Figure out which one you have and get back to us.

Are you getting any codes? When my chip was bad, I got code 51.

Oh and for a computer, you can use any 90-92 ecm with the last 3 numbers of "730". that came in all 90-92 tpi cars AND 90-92 3.1l V6 cars as well.

Code 42 is NO distributor reference signal; usually means a dead ignition module or something along those lines. Since you had to pull the intake and everything off, are you sure all the grounds are hooked up again? There should be a few bolted to the back of the passenger side head, and also a ground wire for the coil.

Make sure the EST is plugged in, all grounds are good, and that the distributor is plugged in properly. As far as the code 33, check all vacuum lines and make sure nothing is ripped or disconnected.

Good luck.
