Check to make sure your car can tow it. I tried to rent a U Haul trailor, but even though my Jeep has enough power, it did not weigh enough so they wouldn't let me get it. The vehicle towing has to weigh a certain percentage of the car being towed.

Yea it has to weigh equal or more than 80% IIRC. Im pretty sure you can rent one at your age, no guarantees tho. If i remember, the vehicle doing the towing has to have a class 3 hitch and must be 3,500 lb or more curbweight.

Why can't you drive it to the appraiser? There are a few up in our area. Honestly, I wouldn't deal with U-Haul, because they won't guarantee that you'll get a full trailer. You'll likely get a phone call the day before saying they only have a dolly available, and that blows chunks. Ask me how I know.

most of the time they make you rent their truck to tow the trailer for liability purposes, but if you have a truck large enough to tow it like a 2500 or 1 ton they should let you rent it.

You have to be 18... Your going to need a F-150 or equivalent with a class 3 hitch rated for 5000lbs or more. And yes its hard to find a full trailer but i can try and find you one. The only problem is i would have to look for it the night before cause they don't really hold reservations on them for a In-Town rental unless its like 24 hours before.

thanks alot guys. i will be towing the trailer with a 2001 F250 with a class 3 hitch. so that shouldnt be a problem.

i cannot drive the car because i need it appraised so that i can get insurance on it. no insurance=no driving. if anyone knows of an appraisal place in northern jersey, im all ears. ive been trying to find one for about a month now and ive only found this one guy that is by middletown NY. if i can get a place closer to due it ill just have it towed there. thanks agian

also how much would it cost to rent a full trailer for a day.

Here's one right in Montvale. I had my SS appraised by him a few years back. Very nice guy, easy to deal with. http://www.automotiveappraiser.com/
