Any of you guys know A LOT about setting up car audio systems?
I just bought a Kenwood XXV-01D headunit and the range of adjustments on it is way way past what I would know. I'm talking lpf, hpf, mhz, and all kinds of other adjustments. Let me know if any of you guys would know how to adjust this for me and maybe we can meet up. Thanks.

lpf= low pass filter= doesnt allow a certain speaker to play below a certain frequency (usually the subwoofer)
hpf= high pass filter= doesnt allow a certain speaker to play above a certain frequency (usually the speakers)
mhz- megahertz- unit of frequency measurement but is probably referring to the EQ.
the lpf and hpf are usually set at the amp but you can do whatever you want. my headunit made it very easy by having a crossover which basically sets any frequency level (i used 80 hertz) to not let speakers go below or subs to go above. makes it a very easy way to blend the sounds of the speakers and subs. check if yours has that if not i'll swing by this week and set them for you. they are very important to avoid distortion. the main thing we need to spend time on is the gains. thats important to getting the signal going to the speakers to be as clear as possible.
o man i almost forgot- congrads on getting that head unit you wanted!

Yeah it's got all those adjustments and more. You can actually tell it what size speakers you're running in the front and rear and how far each one is from the headunit apparently. I'll give you a call this weekend if I have some free time.

u got that wrong subsonic filter dosent allow speaker to play below a certian frequency range
lpf keeps all the mid an high freq. away from ur speakers
hpf filters out bass from ur speakers

Yeah I still need to set it up but I'm waiting to install my subs first. Just waiting for the carpet to get delivered to cover the box first. All the wiring is run and ready to be hooked up.

If you were in the lower DE area, I would help you tune it, but won't be up the NJ way for a couple months. Yes, it can be quite overwhelming!

I can get by w/basics and mainly tuning, but enclosure designing, and systems construction aren't my strongsuits. Do you know DJ (Mike)? He lives in the Havover, PA area and is quite an authority on F-body sound!

He has alot on his plate right now from the last conversation we had, but not sure if anyone on the F-Body Audio forum is from NJ. Biggs and Weymeyer (JBL) are in the NY area, but they are too busy and important to contact for assistance. In fact, I gotta re-tune my system for the OC show in (3 weeks). Demo vehicle for the local shop! (In exchange, I get free shop time and other perks)
