Just curious Matt, the TBI setup you want, is that for a car who's ECM already has the TBI programming? If not, why not go with TPI? There's even a book out about TPI so you can learn as you go.

+1 You can really learn it with a good book, a shop manual, a trouble light, a noid light, a multi-meter + a paperclip.

I got a complete 305 TBI setup... all sensors, harness, TB, manifold, and ecm. $100. came off a running car. I think youd just have to get the 2 bigger injectors and a chip for a 350.
i've done a custom tpi setup in my monte, a custom harness made it much easier, but the harness chip and ecm were about 250 right there, plus all the tpi parts get expensive if you have to buy peice by peice. TPI is cool, but tbi works too and is cheaper. its all up to what you want.

a word of advise, dont go tpi because of the myth that tpi hold more power than TBI, if you go tpi do it because you want the low end torque, because TBI when modified properly can do some serious damage on the street
edit: if i were in your situation i would just go non-CC carb and not do the whole TBI/TPI swap, theres a 305 on thirdgen thats going 13 flats, so dont be discouraged from trying to build something that noone really builds up

im just saying its alot more work then u relize, the easiest thing for u to do would be to
A. repair ur burnt up harness
or
B.get an vacum advance hei dizzy, and get rid of the cc carb, which would eliminate the ecm/harness all together
though if u really want the l98 combo im sure my friend would gladly sell it to u,u just need to relize what ud be getting urself into

I do realize what Id be getting my self into, and the only reason why im getting my self into it is because the car could be nice and streetable for daily driving, wich would save me money in the end.

that makes absolutely no sense man. how does spending thousands save you money when all you really need is some minor repair and maintenance work?
carbs were used for over 100 years on daily driven vehicles, and most american street machines still run them today. fuel injection didn't make driving possible, it jsut made it nicer to trees.

matt i have a carb/vac hei dizzy i could sell u cheap, with that u could keep what u have and just toss the harness/ecm in the trash, easy fix and not lots of money spent.not to mention it would be alot easier for somone who is learning to work on a carbed engine rather then something fuel injected

what I dont get is, everyone dogs on me for the lg4, the lg4 goes on its last leg, I inquire for a L98, and everyone is still unhappy with what im doing, I give up, leave me the **** alone, I make my own dicisions. I know your trying to help but seriously If I dont do this to my car, make it into something I can daily drive with out getting 12 mpg and run 28's I will need a new car or sell mine and loose ALL of the money I put into her. wich I really dont want cause every single penny I made since fall of 04 (around 3 grand) is in it.

I have a $2000 budget to do what I want and make it the way I want, I want a 350 tpi, keep my exhuast. high flow cat air foil slp cold air kit new injectors and a lt1 cam. then ill add gta gfx and eventually paint the car BLACK I will be happy but It wont be a stick or have ttops

OK, this thing is getting old fast. See, the thing is, you change your mind every 10 minutes. Plus you are only what, 14? You have time to get it right, but you come off via your posts that everything is an emergency that needs to be done right now - kind of a spoiled attitde. And you seem to get mad when people disagree with you, even if you asked for opinions. Now, some of that could be a tone, etc., lost in the world of the internet. Communication can be hard, even for old pros.
Make a plan & stick to it. As a project manager, I know that is the only way to succeed. I have basic plans for both my cars, including potential variations (motor selection, for instance). More importantly, I know what I want to achieve for both cars. And the plan for either of them is not a 30 mpg, 11 second trophy car that stops 100-0 in 98 feet and pulls 1.05g on the skid pad, with ac & the interior quality & sound of a new Lexus. Unless you spend $250g; and even then most of those goals cannot be reached together. You have to decide what realistically you want to acheive.
Do the work yourself, with help & manuals, and learn. You have yet to take that advice from a number of people, me included. There are a lot of smart people around who are willing to help, you just have to really want the help.
Good luck.
