Tim's Worst Nightmare...

Finished the install yesterday.

This stuff is ungodly expensive. I'm waiting to see how much of a difference it makes in roadnoise and the sound of the stereo. Took almost 3 full Bulk Packs to do the entire floor, trunk area, and inside the doors. Cost would have been $850....thank God for sponsors.

And for you Weight Nazi's each pack is about 23lbs in the box so I'm guessing I added about 60lbs to the total weight of the car.

Carpeting got laid out tonight and I have to start painting plastics tomorrow.

Yeah I used the spray stuff on the underside of the Thunderbird I'm building and will probably coat the interior with it too. This was free so how could I resist?

That looks really cool Paul. I kicked around the same idea for mine, with a bunch of guys at work who were also considering it for their trucks. I think the cost of the materials alone is prohibitive, and I'd need a professional install.

Suddenly dynamatting got put lower on the list of things to do.

Tim is gonna have a heart attack when he sees that.

I remember starting a thread in w-body.com's car audio section about lightweight sound deadening. They couldn't understand the light weight concept. Much confusion ensued.

Hahaha..."was" is the key word.

Considering what this stuff is supposed to do it doesn't really weigh all that much. I'm really interested in seeing what the audible difference is when I'm finished...whenever that is. Been working 12 hour days at my office job and only 3-4 in the shop at night lately. Should slow down soon. Atleast it's been raining so I haven't missed out on driving the car.

i'm with paul. who cares about the extra 100 pounds or so on a street or show car. what really troubles me are the 300 pound dudes who worry about carbon fiber hoods or titanium exhausts on their cars to shed a couple pounds. yeah hi

i actually used to run in the SCCA with a guy who's car inspired a diet. he seriously weighed 350+, which was fine when he was running vintage sedans and stuff like that that already weighed well over 4000lbs. then he bought a miata and realized that he accounted for well over 10% of the racing weight of the car. his diet started the next day. lol
