just go with a cam that makes peak tq before 4500 rpms and peak hp below 6000 that way you don't have to spin it to the moon to have good power. Otherwise heads/cam can only do your car good

With a 98 LS1 you are pushing your luck with heads and cam on a low mileage car, let alone 110K +. Pre 00 cars had VERY weak rod bolts, where as 00 and up just had weak ones. I would say don't do it but it is your car.

<----votes for the 224/224 cam from Thunder racing. small cam that makes big numbers.

Cody, just jack the motor up a bit and toss on some ARP rod bolts while you have it all apart.

Well then you might as well yank the motor now, rebuild it, and drop in a mild cam. Swap to later heads while you are at it.

well if you are looking for heads, i have 2000 ls1 ones, and a bunch of other 2000 and 2001 parts available.
To be honest a few years back i was hesitant about working on my LS1, but by now i wouldnt waste the money on having anybody else do anything to it. its very simple and straight forward. I took a bunch of pics of my new engine as i added stuff to it so if you need any advice or such maybe i could help.
