Antifreeze help.
So it turns out the last time my car was at my friends house getting the rear put up he put antifreeze in it. well today i looked in the radiator and its unmixed, i guess he thought it was 50/50 but it was the full strength. Should i drain some and mix it with water or can i leave it in there at full strength. What are the possible effects of leaving it, i dont think it could do any damage but it looks like it may be too thick to flow through the water jackets properly.

straight coolant isnt any thicker than water, so flow should not be an issue.

straight antifreeze actually has a higher freezing point than 60/40 mixed. test it and adjust accordingly.

The adding water to anti freeze is kind of a new thing -- before cars had 195 thermos and no cats pumps or even vacume lines in some cases -- the mix was done -- well in the summer people would put a 160 thermo in their car -- and in the fall a 180 thermo but if the anti freeze was to strong the cars heater would not work well -- and some would put cardboard piece in front of the radiator to get the temp up but it was the 20% water 80% anti or more that kept the temps of the motor down been their done that kind of thing --- jz

Anti-freeze does not support the transfer of heat as good as water. I don't think it would damage anything, but I wouldn't want it.
Do you know there is no water because he told you or because it looks like it?

Yea, what Bonzo said. Antifreeze has a lower freezing point than water, but water is more effective at cooling your motor. There are lots of different ratios that you can mix the water and antifreeze at, but for a fairly stock car, 50/50 will work fine.

idk i would mix some water as close to 60/40 or a 50/50 as possible especially.

I'd drain a bit and thow some water in there. Honestly, unless you plan on driving it when its really hot or really cold, I doubt it would make much of a difference though.
