Setting up a carb for autoX/Road Racing???

i was wondering if anyone had ever set up a carb for an autocross or open track car before?
i am trying to figure out how high i shoudl set the floats and if i need to do anything with the slosh tubes.
jetting shoudl be similar i would think, but would a little more pump shot be needed since i would be seeing so many load spikes and some extra temp in teh engine?

i have seen them with float bowl extensions ( more avail volume ) cut away floats for by passing -- extensions on jets ( the slide over type creates a tunnel not the screw in type ) no matter what only set float to the bottom of the bowl sight screw Hole as it sits level and flat on the motor ( the way it sits on the motor with car level flat to the road ) -- with motor hot and 7 / 8 Pound's of fuel pressure 550 HP motor and of course running -- care must be given if you do not have see through site glasses -- fuel will be everywhere -- 3 ways to in richen fuel shot on and off in the corners 30cc pump / 50cc pump -- i think 10 different pump travel lever inserts avail and the squirter can have 8 / 12 different sizes of sprayer tips and it can have the screw in the squirter solid or drilled out for even more -- it sounds like a lot and it is -- do they have a monitoring system you can buy into for lap times in corners and overall its than a bit easer to tune -- but every track and the weather is always different -- hahahahahahhhah -- but you already know that -- have a lot of time wearing threads in holleys out -- jz

i am seeing that some of the road race guys use the blower style squirters with the extensions to get the gas aimed directly at the venturi. i don't really see the point and no one seems to have any reason why they would be needed. any opinion?

their are 3 different squarters one has been discontinued and was the best for what you are doing the other two are up for grabs as to what will work the skuddel is the long sprayer gets fuel to the valve faster ( straight streem ) but with a draw back its still liquid so its inconsistant in its performance, could make it stumble -- and some have i dont know how other that film feel the long tubes the ones i am talking about -- become siftons ( they drip out ) at high engine speed ( i can see that happening ) again when we were doing it the track timing system was the only way to figu it out -- try the first season to get your lap times down so as a change can be seen -- anything you change unless you are repeatable and can be counted on to repeat every time you will never get it all to happen -- forget about banging fenders with the morons up front -- get you and the car as one - hahahahhah ---- dont know if that sounded right but i think you know what i am refering to -- your crew chief has to be able to change for better or worse and it is right now that you see it ???? -- if you can gell with the crew it will be rewarding i can tell you that -- took us 2 seasons before we won anything almost 79% DNFs it was very hard in the begining --- jz

i am just looking at novice fun at autocrosses and open track days really. it would be nice to go into real competition, but i don't have the time or money for it. lol
i jsut figure any little thing that i can do during prep will save me the trouble of tracking down answers later. my first real goal will be to get back into the groove of things. i haven't competed in anything to do with road racing or autox in 3 or 4 years now. i used to be good, even spent some time instructing, but that was a while ago and you know how quickly you can get rusty as a driver. lol

that sounds great what car are you running? there was a cp 79 camaro for sale a month ago on frrax set ftd one day this year at nationals. were are you looking to run? M-club at the medowlands is probly the highest speed auto-X around and its more like a small road course few cones pretty wide open stuff. let me know when it gets closer to race season.
