According to this list, carpet and sound deadening together is approx. 34 lbs.

http://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17319

Most people I know who have removed the sound deadening out of their 4th gen say 15-20 lbs. just for that.

if your car is a daily driver, I HIGHLY HIGHLY do not reccommend it. If you think fbodies exhaust / crattles / creaks are bad, wait till you take that stuff out. I don't think ruining your driving experience is worth .03 seconds at the track.

I agree. It seems to amplify all of the annoying noise.

I don't know how much the stock stuff weighs but I Dynamatted my whole car and it added about 60 lbs total. For less than a tenth in the quarter the difference in the interior acoustics was well worth it for me. Although the price of that stuff is outrageous....Sponsors FTW

there's some component to Dynamat that makes it heavy
& now there are a bunch of competitors that are lighter/cheaper

i haven't tried any of them though

i used b-quiet ultimate and it only amounted to about 30 pounds to do the trunk and doors multi-layered. once of these days im gonna rip out the carpet and replace the stock sound deadening with some more b-quiet. i'd rather add 50 pounds of sound deadening and lose the weight elsewhere cause having a loud car is obnoxious
