Computer G33K's inside (Justin, Brandon, etc)

Gonna OC my AMD Athalon 64 FX-62 Dual Core Chip... I look at the temperature now and its definately not on the safe side for OC (found that out first hand hahaha) ... i went to OC it from 2.8GHz to 3.080GHz and the CPU temp jumped from a steady 52*C to a whopping 63*C  Then my system siezed up. Anybody have any luck with watercooling? From what I hear, people could overclock their CPU in huge amounts of numbers and still get a steady 38*C at idle and 45*C at full load.

Sounds cool. I might add some NAWZZZZZZZZZZZ too!!! I might have to watch too... if I hit CTRL+ALT+DEL, I might have to replace the fan bearings that I fried, tho I am quite lucky I didnt blow the welds on the intake... while I eat my tuna sandwich, since I refuse to eat at Fat Burger where I can get a cheeseburger and fries for $2.95, I'll have to overnight parts from Japan....

Yeppers. From the reviews, even tho the E6600 Core 2 Duo outperforms the chip I got, the AMDs are suppose to run ALOT cooler than the Intels. Which is why I chose the chip cuz its easy to overclock and get alot out of it WHILE staying cool... i guess ima need watercooling or that A/C cooling they have out now. The board runs at 42*C but that was a wicked jump in temp thats why I decided to upgrade cooling... right now im running only 2 fans (minus the heatsink), a 120mm in the back and an 80mm on the side.

something doesn't seem right with that temperature jump. I would say something isn't right with your heat sink. or CPU fan. In terms of the watercooling question though, it's a very effective, expensive method of cooling your computer. Plus you have to always worry that... you're running pressurized water on top of your computer parts... hrmm...

I ran a "3dMark03" benchmark test, and it scores a measily ~20,566, I expected something ALOT higher than that, which is why im looking to overclock + upgrade the cooling.

And yea, now Im second guessing water cooling, i read alot of reviews on newegg.com and a cpl ppl had that happen but they caught it in the nick of time before it did any damage to their parts... im trying to find that "Air Conditioning Unit" that I heard so much about that works off a PCI slot. cant find it tho!!!

water cooling is risky, but my friend has it and his athlon 64 4200 idles at 29c.

im using this beast, and i idle at 34c

edit: you might want to get a good intake fan for the front of your PC, like a 120mm or something. that could be a big help, also what is the case made out of?

Steel... I just ordered some more ram, another 80GB WD SATA drive so I can raid the 2... and a very solid ZALMAN cpu HS+F... I hope I can up the speed of the CPU to at least ~3100 w/just upgrading the cooling... if I cant, im selling off the mobo + cpu on ebay and getting an e6600

nice, yea im a lil late. didnt know you had that much of a beast processor, whatd that thing cost? im gonna say around $800. i was lookin at a case made by thermaltake that has watercooling already built into it. i think thats gonna be my next major upgrade since the case i have now only has one fan in it

there was one guy that cooled his cpu using liquid nitrogen, try that

Ram is cakewalk, hard drives aren't too bad, but sometimes everything else is either a royal pain or impossible to swap. So many things are built right into the board of modern laptops that sometimes you can't remove it and install it in another machine.

What laptop do you have, and what are you looking at getting?

i got mine from www.cyberpowerpc.com
a friend recommended them because he got a custom PC from them with no probems and he was pleased w/ their quality & cheaper than dell & the like
[nothing wrong with the hardware on this but it gets really hot, could use better batt. life (60 mins maybe), and the hinge issue]

i don't know what i'm going to do the transplant into yet, but the hinge is busted so i don't really feel comfortable opening/closing it all the time

i was looking at discounted ones w/ poor specs i could pick up cheap
