It was a Cobra, not a Mustang. 1 of 1 Shelby Super Snake twin supercharged. The buyer is the same guy who paid 3 million for the 53 Olds prototype 2 years ago and 4 million for the GM bus last year. He has deep pockets and an incredible museum of cars.

Bill Cosby had Shelby build him a similar Cobra, and it proved to be "too much" car for him.

correction: ron pratt did buy the cobra, and bus, but not the prototype, that was bought by the ford guy decked out in ferrari gear

There were a couple of prototype(concept) cars the last couple of years (the Olds and the Pontiac). Ferrari guy bought the Olds I think and it was Pratt that bought the Pontiac. I still can't believe these guys are willing to pay this much for any given car. How much admission do they charge at their car museum to justify the cost of these cars?
Dam, Pratt keeps buying everything!

me and a friend were talking about the story about this car...he was mentioning that some guy actually bought this car from shelby, moved to canada, hid the car when he got in trouble with the feds, and they found it a couple years ago then barrett jackson picked it up...plus we were saying that it would go for around $5 mil...

I hate that jerk in the ferrari hat. Everytime I see him I want to punch the TV.
Boys with more money than brains. It is really a big pissing contest, isn't it?
