first i have heard of this. sounds like an odd problem to have with a design that has sold hundred of thousands of units already with the same size wheel size+offset and same tire size.

There was a recall on struts for the GTO recently. Could cause the suspension to compress too much.
Whats odd is that in Oz, they put 18's and 19's on these cars, with wider tires, and never had this problem?

Yeah, I heard the problem is mainly with the 17s. Strange.

Offset issues, perhaps.

Feather-light suspension, Konis just couldn't hold. I'm so glad I took a look inside your showroom doors.

First that I have heard of this too. I wonder how much of an issue it really is....we all know how news articles get written sometimes.

either that or the extra wheel diameter is enough to clear where the strut is hitting the tire...but that would be a stretch. id say its probably something with the offset, and it had to be changed for US regulations or something

Shouldn't the wheels be toed in a little, allowing the top of the tire to clear the struts while providing that additional "bite" during cornering? The computer animation in that story shows the tires straight up and down.
