i have a question it sounds real stupid but is that a true x pipe? it looks like to bends to an x but doesnt look like it flows through. But i also dont know if thats how x pipes are or are not.

That's how they all are. It's just the shape of the pipe. I think there is one for the C5 that flows where it connects, but not the F-bod.

might be worse looking. The exhaust hangs pretty low and is noticeable all around. and then exeryone would see fake tips ...

I can always convert it to a full exhaust later, but I don't plan on keeping the tips. I know 4 people who have had it on their cars/seen them and there is definitely an empty space back there. Ofcourse I'm not going to mind it lol.

I thought the purpose of an x pipe was to have both banks of the exhaust intersect to balance the pulses better or something. I know H pipes connect, I thought x pipes did too. I dont know, I've only ever run H pipes

H pipe is for balance. X pipe supposedly one bank will help 'Pull' the exhaust from the other bank. Them Ferd guys swear by it ...

i know x-pipes help a little bit with backpressure. if i'm not mistaken, cammed cars hate backpressure so he'd benefit more from a h-pipe

I thought it would be the other way around and the H pipe creating more back pressure. IM no expert, just guessing .. lol

Yeah a true X-pipe will join both pipes together on the inside to smoothen and scavange the exhaust gases just like a merge collector on a header
in an attempt to pick up a few Hp
An H pipe will scavange in the low-mid rpm range Vs. a Proper X-pipe merge will scavange in low,mid and high rpm range more efficiently than the H pipe..
That is why alot of the Nascar set-up's switched to X-pipe systems.
The other benefit is a reduction in exhaust sound decibels
Sterling Marlin won the 1995 Daytona 500 being the 1st use a X-pipe system in Nascar in order to give him the advantage of picking up a few more Hp than the other drivers.
the story about it is here.
http://insideracingtechnology.com/drgas.html

Most people don't even know you can the same advantages of an X-pipe just by using a Proper Y-pipe merge vs just cutting/splicing 2 pipes to together in order to join them to a single pipe.
You can pick up 2-7 hp just by using the proper Y merge depending on howmuch Hp your car makes and CFM you engine requires to where a single pipe might not support the Hp vs Dual pipes.
