For sale: 1992 Pontiac Grand Prix LE
EDIT: We think we found the problem, it's a little hose that someone cut too long and replaced it all kinked. I've got pics, can post if requested.
- Blue... looks kinda teal sometimes
- 175xxx ish miles
- 3.1 / A4 (non computer controlled I believe)
- Bought it from a dealership, the overheating didn't show itself till after I bought it.
Test drove fine, otherwise i might not have even bought it. I've put MAYBE 100 miles on the car.
- Recently (past month) replaced by me: thermostat, water pump, fill/bleed coolant, tranny filter and pan gasket, oil, filter and oil pan drain plug change.
- Appears to be recently replaced: alternator, plug wires (haven't pulled any plugs to check them), cat. converter (the cat appears new, as with some piping in front and behind it, but the pipe in front appears to have a spot where they missed the weld. Think it leaks a little but nothing really noticeable), air filter.
- The bad:
OVERHEATS. It'll be fine at times, then wont be able to get 2 blocks. I've replaced the waterpump, thermostat, and filled/flushed the coolant. I don't have the time or desire to go into it much more with fixing it, rather just pass it on to someone who wants to put the effort into it. No idea what the problem is.
Leak: comes from between the engine and tranny, above the oil pans. Where it dripped down there already was trans fluid (pan gasket was leaking, which is why i replaced it) so I can't tell if it's a trans or engine oil leak. Could be the oil pump seal, more details on that can be found at
http://www.w-body.com/service/oil-pump-seal.html
Might need valve cover gaskets.
The outer cover on the drivers side taillight has a hole... the actual taillight itself is OK but I don't think you can replace just the cover. Taillights are 10 - 20 bucks on eBay.
Needs window motors all around.
Key doesn't turn the drivers door lock.
Check gauges and low gas light will come on randomly. Haven't had time to fix it, the fix is located at
http://www.w-body.com/service/checkgauges.html
Power antenna doesn't come up, I could just be doing something wrong tho dunno.
Don't have the code to open the glove box.
Was in an accident, or maybe a few minor ones - the car lived in the Bronx before I got it. See the pics below (drivers side fender dent and hood alignment)
AM/FM/Cassette radio
"Racing" pedals, lol
Big gaudy sticker on the back window. Can remove it if you want.
Don't have the owner's manual
- The good:
Everything else for the most part. Trans, tires, suspension, etc.
Will come with a wiring harness adaptor for putting in an aftermarket head unit, and a Chilton's manual for 1988-96 Lumina/Grand Prix/Cutlass Supreme/Regal
Due to the overheating I'd recommend you get it back to your house, shop, whatever by some means other than driving it.
Asking $600 to recuperate some of my losses. If you think you have a fair offer for less then message me and we'll see if something can be worked out.
Car's gotta go.
Pics.
