OBDII test with Hypertech installed?
Does anyone know if I'll have trouble passing the NJ Inspection's OBDII test with Hypertech Power Programmer Plus? Thanks!

Nobody knows if NJ inspection cares if the OBDII computer has been retuned (i.e. Hypertech, pcmforless.com, madz28.com, etc)? I had a problem 2 years ago when I removed my Hypertech, and the car failed the OBDII check because I did not drive it enough after going back to stock.
I just want to make sure I do not need the stock tuning in place in order for the car to pass inspection. Currently, I have no SES light (it's been a year since I had the battery disconnected). Thanks!

Stock tune doesn't matter, as long as it has passed all (or maybe just certain specific) self tests, and there are no emissions-related error codes, it should be fine.
I doubt many people know specifically about the Hypertech, because not many people use them anymore. There are far superior ways to tune the computer, like pcm4less and madz28 that you mentioned. There is also LT1edit, if you wanna get in and do it yourself.

Yeah, I know there are better options out there today, but I already have the Hypertech and am enjoying it (firmer shifts is what I notice the most).
Thanks Tru2Chevy, I was just curious to know if I should go thru the state inspection with the stock tune or if I'm ok going thru with Hypertech installed. Didn't want to get in trouble for tampering.

The car passed state inspection with the Hypertech installed! Normally I reprogram back to stock before going thru, now I know I do not have to. The guy gave me some nice comments on the car as well (I'm sure he really enjoyed revving the engine!)
