Cracked tailhousing FTL
Sunday morning driving home from melissas i notice blue smoke pouring out of the back of the car on 287...thought it was oil. stopped at a gas station, threw a quart in, took 2 more with me, and made the journey to where i work. laid under the car there...found ATF all over the bottom of the car. oh well, maybe a seal just let go and pissed out fluid. nope. they just brought it over to the trans shop, nice hairline crack down the tailhousing of the mighty T5. luckily i kept my old T5, so theyre gonna swap that tailhousing over, and im putting in a normal mount (has a solid one in there now.)
anyone wanna buy a mustang?

that is an odd failure. is the trans mount on the tail housing or the tranny case itself? only two ways to break the tail are misalignment in the driveline or severe deflection of the drive shaft, and i am pretty sure you aren't making enough power to deflect the driveshaft.

the mount is on the tailhousing itself

solid mounts do that all the time - specially street car -- the normal slaming into pot holes in jersey is the cause and no movement in the mount caused it --jz

a TKO tailshaft can break just as easily as a stock T5 tailshaft.
