gears, install kit and set up should run about 800-1000 including labor.

gears 250 and up
install kit 125-160

set up 500 labor

swap rear axles - 3-400 labor

Should of kept the nine, bought a new housing and put back the stock fbody suspension. You would never ever worry about a rear again. Becareful with the 12 bolt some are just as bad as the 10bolt.

$500 to install gears?

That's slightly insane. Most people I've talked to have spent more like $250-$350

I usually do them for $300 - $350
Good gearset $250+
Rebuild kit with super shims $175

Be careful of low ball pricing there IS a difference when it comes to quality of gears / shims / bearings..

I put that out there because there are some extras (oil, additive who knows) always better to build a cushion then under guess.

If you say 350 and then the guy gets a 450 bill, he would be POed. Say 500 and he gets a 450 bill, now he has some change.

he also broke something inside the center section, so he would have to get the center section repaired and checked out too.

Well that must of been because of that whack suspesion setup he had. Break a 9 takes alot and was not because of Horsepower.

just so everybody knows, that 9 inch rear that i used to have was kinda ghetto and was only a temporary thing to get me by until i got something else. i didnt like it at all really. drum brakes, no abs, no torque arm provision and it was 2 inches shorter on each end which = using 2" adapters on each side....

the 12 bolt i saw on ebay looks to be a 3 channel abs rear, so i cannot get it. i will probably get a new 12 bolt rear if i cant find a deal on ebay
