There may be a glimmer of hope...check out Bob Ingle's Blog.

We will see if it goes anywhere. With how this state operates its not going to happen.

i like how they somehow manage to relate the click it or ticket program to front plates. lol
hopefully we can get more intelligent representation to take up the fight or it will never go anywhere. that is the worst legal association i have ever heard, comparing a useless front plate to occupant safety.

Wisnewski is the guy leading the charge. drop by his site and leave him an email letting him know you support his efforts. also, tim/justin, there is a place for 'organization' and your position with said organization, and with the numbers we have he might see more value if you sent him an email from the group. not to say that we shouldn't, as individuals, send him one, too.

i just got done sending mine.

they really need to do away with the front plate, as stated before a lot of people dont even have a front plate. if this actually does go through it will be one step away from NJ sucking even more...

easy, they can make more money this way.

your registration/renewal/personalized plate fees all stay the same, but they re only giving you half as much product for it. reduced materials, time, labor, storage, and shipping expenses add up more quickly than the tickets ever will since so few cops care about front plates, much less actually get out to write the ticket.

The incremental costs to making a 2nd plate is minimal to the state, less then $5 per plate I bet. Really just the cost of the plate and a little bit of shipping. All the other cost (paperwork, etc) will essentially remain the same. Kid of the same theory behind value meals. In the grand scale of the state budget, it will probably add up to chump change. How many plates are issued annually? I am guessing no more then 100,000 (is that ## available anywhere?). So what is that, $500k? Now that is progress! Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for saving $$ and killing off the plate, but wow, way to attack the real budget fat. I call red herring.

My friend who runs inspections told me you don't even need a front plate to pass inspection. My question is if you pass without it than WTF do we need them for?!

But you can get a ticket for not having it. They changed that rule a few months ago.

i jsut see it as a reasonable start to saving money. any business being run in a practical manner would have done away with the extra plate decades ago when many other states did.
i also have a feeling that our state is getting ripped off for a lot more that $5 per plate. i woudl suspect it is at least double that if they are willing to charge 65+tax for a set when you register a car.

I have a feeling NJ is being ripped off for a lot more than just license plates, and the sad thing is most the thieves can be found right under the gold dome in the state house.

I heard today that losing the front plate would save about $1 million/year. That's great and all, but it's literally a drop in the bucket considering the budget deficit is in the billions.

here is a good idea, pro and con,,, no plate = ticket,
does the tickets for no plate make more than what it costs to make all the front plates in new jersey, plus the labor, materials, storage, etc, of the pair of plates, it may not be much but over all the cars in nj it might add up to a whole lot,

I can't imagine there being so many tickets written every year that it would offset the costs involved with manufacturing the extra plates. Most cars in NJ have a front plate. It's only a handful of cars don't have them.

This is true... Corvettes and a few F-bodies are the plateless cars usually, minus a couple rice buckets here and there. Thats about it. Them making the extra plate has to cost more than all the annual ticket revenue from them. I haven't had a front tag in 5 years and only got 3 tickets for it total.

i heard the other day on 101.5 he NJ network, sayin that it wasnt gonna change due to "saftey" reasons......BS what saftey reasons.

if it was such a big deal, ALL states would have front plates, just like if TINT was such a safty issue it would be ILLEGAL in ALL states too.
