A T-Top Story!

Now this story isnt about me personally, its about my neighbor/friend and his 95 formula. I was gettin home from work this morning as he was leaving and he told me.

He was driving his bird on route 18 and he was doing about 120 and climbing! Well anyways hes goes through this tunnel on full throttle to hear his car (SLP Loud Mouth). Now he gets to where he needs to be and notices one of his T-Tops missing! So him and his friend back track down the highway and find a huge trail of shattered glass . So apparently either him or his friend forgot to latch down that side.

So this mornign he said that a replacement piece would be around 600 bucks...that dosent sound right, it sounds way to expensive. Im gonna look it up for him later but im wondering if anyone here knows a ball park estimate on ones side t-top glass?

Crazy story huh guys?

I had one fly out after my Dad borrowed the car and didn't latch it. I had a dealer tell me they had to buy each piece and basically build the thing. He was well over thousand bucks and I told him not to bother. I found one at a junk yard for $250. That would be my advice.

Not too crazy. It's happened quite often on these cars. And your neighbor doing 120 in a tunnel isn't smart either.

I just find it funny that the LM1 kit is so loud that u wont notice ur roof flying off! hahaha

and im not sure if he was doin the same speed in the tunnel...probably much less ...hes not that careless

But ya he better not spend 600 on a new one...i'll tell him to goto absoulute (middlesex junkyard)

Used t-tops FTW.

Next time, tell numbnuts that taching it up in 1st or 2nd makes loud noise w/o doing 120 on rt 18.

That happened to me when I was at the Lowes Raceway in NC showing my car.
I forgot to latch one side when we left, hit a corner pretty fast, and bye-bye t-top.
I had to have my spare set shipped up from here fed-ex overnight, because of course, it started raining that night and didn't stop for 2 days....

I lost one off my 82 on the GSP. It flew out, rolled end-over-end across the car lanes, down the grass median and exploded when it hit the express lanes (around Eatontown). <--not funny then, funny now.

granted doing that was dumb but in his defense he only hit that speed for a lil...he wasnt doing nearly that much by the time they made it in the tunnel...everyone makes mistakes... so right now he mad a nice system with an umbrella and he ties around the shifter to keep the rain out lol...it actually looks like it would work pretty nicely

live and learn i suppose....this is the first time that im HAPPY that i dont have t-tops
