Blue Devil = ZR1 Revival?

Quote:
Chevrolet's 650-horsepower Corvette, developed under the codename "Blue Devil," will be called ZR1. That badge will appear on the January 2008 Detroit show car, and on the production version set to go on sale later next year as a 2009 model. GM has been developing this car for several years, using a supercharged version of the new 6.2-liter small block V-8 used in the 2008 Corvette(pictured). GM also considered such names as Z07 and Super Sport for the ultra-low-volume car. Price will be much higher than the 505-horsepower Z06, and Chevy will continue production of that car when the ZR1 launches.

i have no problem with high HP cars. they can call it whatever they want, people who can afford them will brag just the same if you called it the "pretty pink pavement pounder" as they would calling it blue devil.

Silly question.... I read somewhere that it would be an auto with shifter paddles as they had issues with developing a clutch to handle it.
Am I correct or wrong??

I understand that. The LT5 engine, with Lotus designed heads and built by Mercury.
You asked what else they could revive... I answered

haha figures. So was the LT1. I wander if the circle will come around so that they start creating new names for things again. Dare I say that out loud.

Well, a lot of the new stuff they come out with bombs so they have to play the heritage card. Then they proceed to F the famous name or RPO straight into the ground.

The ZR1 folks might liek this - raise the visiblity of the moniker. Beyond nuts like us, few know the ZR1 was insane for its time.

Like it more than the blue devil, what if they want to order a color other than blue
Honestly with 650hp It shouldn't matter much, although the pink pavement pounder wouldn't be my first choice

I guess this might be GM's answer to the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 which is about $350K, and the new Viper which is about $100K-ish? Ferrari has a couple new models and so does Prosche.

Thats one of the many things i love about GM....you always get plenty of bang for your buck....like look at the Ford GT...its 200k with only 550 hp and still gets outperformed by the "cheaper" Z06

I remember when this car was first heard of. I too am glad that they didnt go with the SS title because anyone who knows Chevy knows the vette is suppose to be their top model car. Infact I red articles that said the reason there has never been an SS Corvette is because SS is suppose to be a "super" version of an already sporty car. The idea was along the lines that a Corvette has always been super from the basemodel all the way up to the fully loaded package. An SS corvette would be a double negative.
