if the initial cost of both cars are same (which isnt true b/c cobras are more $) then even less money spent on mods w/ f body ls1 then f body still wins... this is not a hard concept Ls1 cars are better, i know this my uncle has a high 12s NA stang GT 04 if i had the same amount to spend on bolt ons id be killin that time

Only reason you can find LS1 cars cheaper is because there older...simple as that...You can find mach 1's 03/04's for low low 20's / high teens w/ great mileage...some 2001-02 Fbodies are still going for well over 20. BTW you can find 03/04 Cobras w/ good mileage for 25k...and again dont compare a 2v GT to a 4v Cobra/Mach, there two entirely diffrent animals. Im done here, not turning this into another fbody vs. stang post

the last time a stock mustang could outrun the equal trim level camaro/firebird was 1986. since 2002, ford has continued making mustang GT's that are magazine tested slower than the 13.2-13.4's that the 2002 Z28's were tested at.
comparing a mass/mainline production model to a limited production model like the cobra is somewhat of a waste of time. the closest comparison would be to a base corvette. for only a few thousand dollars more you can own the vette which is about 4 tenths quicker across the 1320' than the cobra.

2V GT's are garbage, not really talking about them....I believe the 5.0's were quicker up until 93 when the LT1 came out...I remember quite a few running in the lower 14's stock(mostly lx's)...dont remember any 3rd gens doing that...Vette's and Cobra's aren't in the same class. SS & WS6 are, both were priced almost identical, regardless if the cobra had a different powerplant or not. The 96&97 DOHC out ran and out trapped the same year LT1 w/ a competant driver. Then the Ls1 ended that until the Blown Cobra came out in 03.

5.0 GT's were all slower than the 5.7 TPI cars off the showroom floor. the L98 produced low 14's, magazines tested them at 14.2 in 1990. the best any of the 5.0 GT's ever managed was mid 14's in magazine testing.
there were years that some magazine tests showed the mustang with similar trap speeds, but none capable of a better ET. really, no year with an ET closer than 4-5 tenths. which is a lot in terms of 1/4 mile.
what happens side by side at the track i don't really rely on. simple fact is that you are dealing with street drivers and the spread in driver skill level is much wider than when magazines test. that skews the results a lot.
hell, i have watched Z06's run 15's at the track, does that mean my car is faster than a Z06? hell no, jsut means that driver sucked massively.
