Antique gun laws...?

If anyone here can provide me any info on Antique firearms laws here in NJ i'd appreciate it. I looked online and it didnt explain much as if i need to register it and so forth. Mainly i need to know what i'd have to do to obtain a pre-1899 handgun from a source providing no paperwork due to age. I already possess a nj firearms ID card. Also the ammunition for the handgun is considered obsolete as far as i know. Thanks in advance.

you need a handgun purchase permit. it is just another form you can get from the township office or police department.

if its truly an antique and ammo is considered obsolete, i dont think you need any paperwork. you can buy such guns out of sportsmans guide; mail or internet order. rifles anyway, but i think obsolete means obsolete.

haha exactly lol i just think the gov knows enough about everyone. the gun shop i grew up working at always advised unregistered guns to stay that way.

Wow, that's very antique. If along the lines of a flintlock musket i don't believe you need to have any type of permit. I know black powder weapons that you must first use a charge then load you can buy without any type of paperwork so u might not need anything. I'd double check with ur local police dept or the NJSP website you could shoot an email, they are usually very good at answering your questions if you display a willingness to work with them with this sorta thing.
