For sale is a set of modified, complete Vortec cylinder heads for SBC. These heads are casting number 12558062 (preferred over ‘906’ castings). They have had the valve seats and guide bosses machined for larger springs and higher lift. The rocker studs have been drilled and pinned to resist pulling out under high RPMs. The valves have been upgraded in size to 2.02 / 1.6 race valves which have been faced along with a 3 angle valve job. The intake and exhaust ports have been professionally ported and max flow bench numbers are a ridiculous 240cfm on the intake and 214cfm on the exhaust which is a vast improvement over stock Vortecs’ weak exhaust flow. These heads have been magnafluxed for cracks, thoroughly cleaned and inspected. The new valvetrain is all Comp Cams components including Comp 986 dual springs with harmonic dampener, Comp spring seat locators, Comp Teflon valve seals, retainers and locks, all brand new, matched and assembled. Price is $650 or best offerand pickup is preferred but I can ship at buyer’s expense.
I also have a valvetrain-matched camshaft if you’re interested. It’s a Comp Cams XE284H hydraulic flat tappet grind with .507/.510 lift and 240/246 duration @ .050, brand new in box with cam card and matched lifters, also new in box. This cam along with the above heads and a 406 sbc bottom end desktop-dynoed at approx. 500 peak HP and 500 ft/lbs of TQ. Cam and lifter kit is $150 firm.
