New seat arrived....
Kirkey Intermediate Road Race Seat with cover (17" hip)....Light weight, strong and comfy. Total weight is right around 16lbs +/- with cover. Now I have to mount it and hopefully keep the sliders. Rigid mount would be easy, but then it limits who could drive the car. With the slider anyone (instructors, friends, my dad) could hop in and take a lap. Passenger side will probably be rigid mounted. I am hoping to save at least 20-25lbs per seat maybe more on the passenger side (no slider). I'll weigh everything once I start the swap. Gotta fix the torque arm first.

I have a sparco roadster; The Sparco is 23.5 lbs with fixed mount and the stocker is 37 with slider for rx7.

Today I installed the Kirkey with dual locking slider and wasn't too crazy either. I'll take some more pics tomorrow, time permitting. Here's a quick sample.

I get some more pics of the mount and slider set up and with the cover on. I have to get a rear seat brace from the roll bar to the seat and do some other things, but the hard work is done. Next up, passenger side. Seat should be here sometime this week hopefully and that side should go quicker now that I know the gameplan. We'll see.

would that seat be useable without a rollbar to attach a brace too?

I don't think it would be optimal. The brace will keep the shoulders of the seat from rolling or twisting. Another thing would be when you strap the belts on, and cinch them tight you want the belts pulling you tight to the seat. The brace will keep the seat rigid allowing the belts to do their job. Without the brace the belts might be trying to pull the seat off the front of the mount as you pull them tight.
I'll take more pics as I finish it.

Yes. Would they be comfortable on a trip to florida? probably not. But a one hour ride to Giants stadium is no problem, to the shore and back is no problem. They do make getting into and out of the car a bit more difficult, but the support, the fit, and additional headroom are worth it to me.
