Rare Supercharged 93 Formula!

Taken from Pontiac High Performance:
http://www.highperformancepontiac.co...ird/index.html

Quote:
A beefier L99 was the end result of the modifications. The boosted 265 put out 339 hp at 5,750 rpm, with 364 lb-ft of torque at 3,250. This was an increase of nearly 140 hp and 125 lb-ft over the production version with only 8.5 psi. With another 5 pounds of boost, this little V-8 would have been at 425 plus horsepower, though the durability of the stock rotating assembly would likely have been diminished.

The performance was quite impressive and clearly indicative of the potential for a lot more. Coupled to a stock six-speed transmission and 3.42 gears, the Firebird ran 0-60 in 5.2 seconds, with a best of 13.47 at 106 mph in the quarter.

Quote:
A tank for the air-to-liquid intercooler was mounted near the radiator core support. It held a mild glycol solution that was pumped into the cooling element in the blower manifold to reduce charge-air temperatures.

There was also a 360 hp 4.3 turbo v-6 4th gen Camaro that I believe the Gm skunk works was playing around with..
There is also a v-16 Caddy CTS driving around these days

i remember reading about that. i also remember reading something about either a super or turboed V6 that was very close to production. made the same power as the current V8, but less weight, less insurance. but of course, corporate killed the idea. the real sad part is the pictured car, and the one i read about, are both probably crushed right now.

I know they had built 3 V16 engines which were basically 2 LS motors put together. one is on display, one is in the Cadillac 16 and the other is in a modified suburban. The CTS must have some other 16 cylinder in it.

Your missing my point, its the same arrangement as a LT1, so what if they used the 4.3l out of the caprice... Would really be bad if someone were to do it using their LT1 and not all that hard to do.

true
its funny that pontiac did it, but no aftermarket company has come out with a screw type blower that fits without cutting the cowl out of the car

They showed it on Speed t.v., I forget the name of the show but it is the show that has the Host that has that real long stupid looking Mustache..

Anyways he did a whole 1/2 Hour show on the GM Skunk works division..
They gave him a tour including a ride in the V-16 CTS then the manager of the Skunkworks Lined up a bunch of the project cars outside.
Which to my susprise had two one of a kind 4th gen Trans Am's, A proto type Saturn ION that had a turbo that they were messing with for use as a rally car somewhere..
And a Turbo Cobalt..

They didn't need all that...AFAIK it's an off the shelf Eaton blower. I think it's actually used on one of the Holden v6s. There has been talk on FTv6 in the past about using it in a 4th gen 3.8.....
