Carlisle breakage found

I knew I had a problem with some new noises on the car when I got home from Carlisle. It ran well but was making noise(creaking type) when I started to pull out of Carlisle. I put it up on ramps when I got home yesterday and just crawled under it to find one of my homemade bent up exhaust brackets had snapped in half! That allowed the whole exhaust on that side to move around. I'm pretty sure I know which place on the PA tpk it happened. They have a couple of spots where the road raises up for some reason and you could see all the scrape marks from other vehicles bottoming out. I didn't bottom out or scrape the headers, but the impact of the bump must have snapped the bracket. It was pretty thick galvanized metal but it was at a bend that had a groove cut in it so that made it a lot weaker. Got a new bracket bent up and bolted back in place. Ready for the cruise nights this week!

True dat....lol.

Yeah, I think I mighta lost something on those bumps too....like 2 raised sections as well. Heard some extra clanging afterwards. Still too afraid to crawl under there....but I know I need to do some more work to 'get it right' still.....

Worst part was almost getting hi-centered on my sidewalk trying to get into my driveway....

You can blame my brother for that....he's one of those union guys that's been standing around on the bridge for the last several months.

Gotta go with NASCAR style oval pipes. Take a look at the Spintech website and you'll see their oval piping and the adapters to connect to round. It's not cheap stuff and most exhaust shops don't want to work with it.

Spintech Mufflers

Go to "Accessories" and you'll see oval tubing, bends and adapters in the drop down.
