People who don't know what they're talking about...
...does it piss you off?
I was just talking to the dad of one of my friends who has a 99 FRC vette. He was talking about how the new vettes engines are so far ahead of the engines in our cars(mine is also a 99 LS1). He then wanted to know if my car was a 305 or 350, and I told him 346. He looked at me in awe as if I was stupid. The biggest thing that bothered me was when he told me what kind of oil he was running in it 20W50
That's my story and when I meet people like this I do get a little annoyed because of their ignorance. I'm sure a lot of ppl feel this way...

A guy at work tried to tell me that if I put a stand alone HEI dizzy on my 305 instead of the computer one it would spark too hot. Thats funny I always thought the spark plugs controlled the heat rating....

I know what you mean. God forbid anyone can take your word for anything nowadays. Apparently everyone knows everything. Even one of my best friends rarely takes my word on things.

There is a book called chevy ls1/ls6 v-8's written buy a gm engineer. It will give you all the info to show dad how wrong he is. It is 20$ at barnes & noble plus you will learn alot more about the gen3 motor. Look on his oil cap it should say 5w30 only.

This isn't my dad we're talking about, it's my friends dad. My dad was a mechanic for 15 years, I'd sure hope he knows the difference between an Ls1 and a 350.

i'm to the point, also, to just let them keep on keepin' on - whether that be right or wrong, and whether they are correct or incorrect in their assumptions and/or "knowledge". you can bring a horse to water...

yeah we have one of those jerks at work who thinks he knows everything about everything...examples....according to him chrysler already bought out gm...his brothers 'supposed'(never has shown proof of this mystery car) mustang cobra runs low 9's with a supercharger pulley, intake and exhaust without any motor work....and this takes the cake...he thinks his stock v8 dakota will destroy my friends 06 ram 2500 cummins with the edge programmer in the quarter mile and overall payload....
just a little to let you guys know what idiots i work with.

When I was in high school, I was hanging out at this local spot w/ a bunch of people. I was only a Sophomore and this kid who was a senior at the time tells me he knows more than me about cars. So, this pisses me off because can't just have good conversation. So, he says this in front of everybody and I tell him I want to go first w/ asking the questions. He agrees. First question and second question were enough to send him home and not show his face at school again. I asked a 2 basic questions: the first, I asked him where the calipers located in the car?? He says that they are located in the engine. Ha ha. So going w/ that, the second question I asked him was, Where are the pistons are located?? So his answer was, ha ha, I laugh everytime I think about this, he said the pistons are located in the rear end of the car. Ha ha ha. Everyone laughed at him, he got shut out by me, a sophomore at the time. Hope everyone enjoyed that one.

I hate the Vette motor thing.
The 350 was launched with the Camaro and Camaro alone in 1967.

AMEN!
There's a story about a GM Exec wanting to go from 327 cid to 350 cid in all bore, only to be met with resistance from the engineering department about "where he wants the cylinders to overlap" LOL.
