Where did you get the pump from? They are still GM triangle pumps, should be more reliable than that.

Sounds like you just got unlucky and got a bad one. Cardone is usually pretty good, I have always had good luck with them

Before youdpend a lot of time and money, make sure the noise is't coming from the idler/tensioner pulley.

no it was the pump i sprayed some lubricant on it last week when it started and the noise went away for a few mins. just got worse and worse so since i had some free time today i took it off and took it to the parts store and got it replaced since i just bought it on 12/13. installed it and no more noise.

I'm not 100% on the GM vehicles, but its pretty common on the 5.0L Fords that once you get some squealing, that the belt/tensioner/idler pulleys are the first things done. Had to redo the ones in my truck at less than 80K....and of course the PS pump for its squeal. Getting about the same timeframe in my van too, and the PS squeals on that whenever its damp out.

Just a suggestion.

Also, on my truck, when I put it on, and the pulley was put on TOO far (too close to pump) when the belt was on, it'd make it squeal too. Alignment was my issue there....

well the bearing in the new p/s pump is making noise again, this time im gonig all out. new belt tensioner and idler pulley from gm. figured i would go that route since the pump has a warrenty on it. but if it goes again after i install it im taking it back and getting a gm
