GEN I POWAH Buick!!!!
LOL well the motor is in, I got a dizzy, fuel line, pump and a few other parts that were damaged in the crash. I also made a few discoveries of a few junk yard jewels...I managed to find a Accel super coil I stuck on the distributor I was buying and got it for free that way. I found a set of 416 heads (58cc chambers and 1.94/1.50 valves) i'll be pulling in the morning and rebuilding. I also found a 8.5in 4link 10 bolt with LSD 3.73 in a monte SS that will fit my car. I stumbled across a set of american racing 15x9 wheels with DRs...looks like that buick is going to be a lot faster on the 1st track day than I expected...hoping to see low 13s with a stock converter

I didnt know monte carlo SS's came with 8.5 inch ten bolts. I thought only GN's came with those.

1984 Hurst/Olds, '85-'87 442s, and '84-'87 Turbo Buicks got the 8.5" rear. The Olds cars had 3.73 gears, and the Turbo Buicks had 3.42s. Posi was optional on all rears.
If it's truly a G-body 8.5" rear, it should have two "fangs" on the lower part of the center section. Most likely, you found a 7 5/8" rear out of a Monte SS, which would have 3.73s in it. Again, the posi is optional, so make sure that it works before you pay for it.
Good luck with the new G-body!

I just dropped the 416 heads off today. Having 2.02/1.60 valves instaled, they are being clearanced for .600 max lift. I'm ordering a new cam with .504/.525 lift and .233/.241 duration, single plane intake and a 3000 stall speed converter. got 3.73 gears i'm gonna pick up soon as well. **** ain't no joke. I'm gonna tear that stock 700R4 four new ********. O and I'm gonna prime it black and paint it semi gloss black

Why clearance them for 600 lift and then only put 525 in it?

cause the guy had stock size springs good for .500 or .600 for a good price no 550. plus that gives me room on that cam for 1.6 rockers too. I wanted to go with a 546 lift but i may have valve-piston issues at that lift
