Bike Week?

Is anyone here going to be going to Bike Week in Daytona this year?

I'll be staying just outside of Daytona in Deland with a friend from HS from February 28th to March 7th. I can't wait I need a vacation especially one that involves riding my bike in warm weather.

Indeed. Besides "accident" part. I used to live there.

It is shocking. The woman that dress like whores, something I am normally a big fan of, look more like they belong in National Geographic than Playboy and all of the "Hardcore" bikers that show up can't stay the whole time because it is tax season and they have to get back to the office.

Add in the marketing blitz from every company that ever made anything that got chromed and the tourist trap mark on EVERYTHING and I am sure everyone can understand how it quickly loses it's appeal.

I happened to be in the area on vacation and thought "Oh cool" by the end of the day I felt more like "Ahhh ****!"

I have heard OC bike week got out of hand a few years ago and some businesses actually close up shop during it.

We'll I'm visiting an old high school friend so my week will not be all bike week. I'll be driving down with my mighty S10 and two bikes in the bed. I plan on spending about a day in actual Daytona taking pictures of the crazies, and the rest will be filled with camping, shooting, bar hopping & the beach. Its just a plus I get to bring my bike down and get my fix. Riding motorcycles has become an addiction.

(p.s yes I have full insurance, and will be bringing all my riding gear + extras in case I meet some new female friends. No squid action from me)

That is another thing to watch out for. FLA has no helmet law. Once combined with accountants blowing off steam and novice riders, your odds of seeing something bad are pretty high.

Just watch out when you see packs of riders moving out together. That seems to be where the bulk of the problems start. If you see a solo rider or a small group of 3 or 4 they are usually less of a problem to be around.
