Verizon FiOS customers / cable people
Hey everyone, quick question.
Long story short, I have FiOS for my TV service and recently got a slingbox ( http://www.slingmedia.com/)
I don't want to rent another HD box from Verizon, I'd rather find a permanent one time fee solution or at least a cheaper way of doing things. I found out I can get a CableCARD with a DCR ready receiver and rent a card for 2.99 a month to replace their proprietary cable box. Anyone ever do this or know of a really cheap HD box that will work with FiOS? Thanks!

$10 I think... 10 dollars a month to watch TV in another room isn't really worth it to me =/

It's $5 for a standard def. box, and I think they charge $8 or $10 for an HD box. But to answer your question Ryan, I don't know what other solutions will work with FiOS.
Did you get the slingbox just so you can watch TV on your computer in another room, or so you can watch it away from home? And which slingbox is it?

I got the slingbox to mainly watch from a remote location but now after trying it out it sucks pretty bad even with fios as an uplink and comcast as a down. I got the Pro-HD version.

My friend has the Slingbox AV (out of production) and I can watch it at work over their wireless network on my powerbook with no issues. What's your FiOS upload speed, 2 or 5?
