LS1 Brakes?

Hey does any one know if 15" rims or the stock 16" Iroc rims will fit over LS1 rear disk brakes? Thanks.

so I'd have to grind down the calipers to fit 15's or 16's?

i have the ls1 brakes on my vert, 15 will not clear at all, 16s barely do but, yes you will have to use 16s to use them.

15" can clear LS1 brakes, it just depends on the wheel you decide to use. Example Bogart 15" drag race wheels clear with out modding the calipers, they were designed around larger brake designs. Convo Pros also clear without issues.

wouldn't the offset be different as well? the back face of the rim would hit the front face of the caliper.....

Stock 3rdgen 15's won't clear LS1 brakes as far as I know.

I',m looking to run the stock iroc 16's on the street and 15" Weld prostars at the track.

So from what I'm hearing the irocs will clear and some after market 15's might (I'll double check with weld). Cool beans thanks for the help!

i'd look into it more. 3rd gen and 4th gen rim offsets are different, not sure if it will help or hurt you. i know its doable, don't know if you need spacers though

I know for a fact that the stock 16" wheels on the 91-92 camaro clear LS1 brakes. I dont think the factory 15's would though.

he's not saying anything about clearance. he's saying that the face of the wheel might be a different offset into the wheel well. its possible that if they do fit you might have problems such as the inside of the wheel smacking something or it not bolting up all together.

torque your wheels too.

The way this swap works is you machine down your stock 3rd gen rotors so they basically turn into hubs. You slide the LS1 rotor over the hub. Then finally there is a custom bracket that mounts the LS1 calipers to the dust shield holes in the spindle. The only difference in offset is the rotor thickness. So your wheel will be pushed out about 1/4". Not enough to cause any problems.
