Was the owner dumb enough to have a regular insurance policy on it?

hood is priced as 1/4 of the car? Doesn't say much about the car

And as far as the insurance goes
Quote:

I guess insurance DOES care how much a company wants to charge it for a damn hood!

Yeah, that was my point. Insurance company may see it as a Mustang with a $21,000 hood. I can understand that Shelby doesn't want to open the door for fakes and clones. Really, I do. Asking for pictures or parts back, OK, I can see that. But no way should the replacement stuff be as expensive as it is. That's just gouging.

well i just read it... if the car was insured for 80k+ there should be no problem... sounds to me like the guy had the wrong insurance policy on it... as far as the parts pricing... i have a really hard time believing 21k for a hood... not saying its false.... i just can comprehend that... and as far as wanting the parts back.... i dont really see a problem with as long as they kept their parts fairly priced.... (which it seems they dont)... saturn does the same thing with their parts because they dont want companies like keystone to pick them up and either remanufacture them or refurbish them.... they are trying to keep their original parts from being cloned and sold in the aftermarket... i still have a hard time believing most if not all of the prices... stripe kit just for the bumper is $500+ come it.... its vynil stripe i cant believe that... thats like 1000% mark up from what it should be.... case being... if the guy had the right insurance for his 80K rustang... their shouldnt be a problem... i didnt read all the posts (dont have time for it, and dont really care that much) but it didnt say what coverage or company he had... those are key elements to the story....
