brainstorming homecoming party event idea...
This thread is mainly for the regulars who attend my events/parties.
ok, i am thinking about having some type of event for when i return to the states, but i really dont want to do the typical house party at home. not this time at least.
Im an thinking along the lines of a hall/party room type rental, which would include catering, such as finger foods/appetizers only basically. As well as them having a setup to play music so people who wanna dance could. On top of that i'd see about bringing the beer pong table to set up there so we could participate in that as well. I am going to email the one place in have in mind tonight to find out more details. I wanna see how long the event would be, like how many hours, assortment of drinks(it is a bar location so everything should be available), and about the beer pong table. I dont see any issues since they do have a beer pong night of their own one night a week. Im thinking having the event from like 8pm-1am???
The ONLY downside to this may be the fact it MAY be a strict 21+ event. Which really only affects a few people(2 off the top of my head). Then what i was thinking is that after this main event at the bar place, certain, not all, people could come back to my house for an after party type thing. Much smaller, like 15-20 people max and then some of those people could stay over that night.
What are you thoughts about this?
The location is near my house, but a lil more north on the NY/NJ border.
I would most likely HAVE to charge for this event but it would be between $5-$10 per person only, and that's with food, dancing, and drinks all included.
Tentative date would be either Fri Dec 18th OR Sat Dec 19th.
And don't worry... most likely ill still have other gatherings at my house in the future, i just wanna do something different for once.
EDIT: after more thinking, i am leaning towards the 19th, and from like 7pm-11pm...

Sounds like a great idea Paul! Unfortunately I told you I won't be back from vacation until the 23rd, but it really does sound good

I would definitely suggest coming to a club meet and meeting some people in a "dry" environment rather than jumping right into a coming home from Afghanistan party for someone you've never met, just to ease up on the akward. You'll find after going to a few club functions that many of us are friends outside the club as well, and are always open to new local people, however I'm not sure that something like this would be the best first ice breaker.
Check out the club events section for info on our monthly meets, one occurring in north jersey this weekend I believe.

I also just emailed the Cornerstone in Hillsdale NJ about seeing if they do private events. I know ive been there before and they had the lower bar area closed off for some type of party. I have a feeling the first place I contacted is going to be very expensive. At this place id just try to reserve the lower bar area and people would still pay for their own drinks like normal but it would only be our group downstairs.

Apparently no one likes to return emails...
As of now i think it'll just be a group of us meeting up at a local bar.
