Does anyone know how to sell something on Ebay?

I am new to Ebay and I am looking to sell my APS Intercooled Twin Turbo System for an LS1 F-body for about $8K. I've compared pricing to other websites, and a few charge $8k for the whole system, so I figure I will charge the same. But are there any hidden things or things I should be cautious about when selling the system?

I ordered it from APS in Australia about 2 years ago now and I never opened the two boxes it came in. But since I received them, they have been kept in my basement away from any harmful elements and I could only assume everything would be in perfect working order since I never opened the packages and they are sealed tightly in the box.

But I don't want some one buying this thing and slapping it on their engine and then it damages their engine because they weren't smart enough to forge their internals. I guess what I am wondering is if there is a buyer beware mentality when selling something on Ebay. I appreciate any pointers I could get from any of you.

APS was actually removed as a sponsor on ls1tech due to the way they were treating their customers. But yeah, a lot of the systems were selling 4-6k.

because instead of making good on a batch of faulty turbos they supplied and lied to the community about (being genuine T4's or something like that but actually were chinese) they just stopped making parts and answering questions/failed parts.

I heard about the cheap turbos. But supposedly when I bought mine, I got it for the introductory price and I bought one of their first systems they produced, which supposedly came with good turbos well before they switched to the Chinese ones. At least, that's what a few APS Turbo owners said who bought the first few turbo systems they made for the F-bodies. I mean I bought 1 of the first 50 Turbo kits they made for the F-body.
And there are a few websites selling them for $8k, so maybe I could sell it for that price. If not, I'll come down on it. But if I can't make a profit above what I bought it for and I have no bidders, then I'll just keep it. Of course, I never opened the packages, so I won't know for sure what turbos they really did come with. But I don't want to open the boxes only to have to re-package them again.

But does anyone know how to sell something like this on Ebay and are there any precautions I should take when selling it?

just follow the steps to list it, ebay makes it pretty simple. and i doubt there is anything you can be responsible for other than the actual item you are selling

just keep in mind people go on ebay to buy things cheaper than a store would sell it. also be very clear about what you are selling and note that the buyer uses the turbo at their own risk and you arent responsible for damages to their motors if installed incorrectly.

are you sure you dont want to start off selling smaller items to get the swing of things?

Understood. I don't want to pull any punches selling this turbo system.

I was planning on listing these important points so that I don't have a buyer coming back at me and blaming me for something that isn't my fault.

APS Intercooled Twin Turbo System for 98-02 LS1 F-body. I am looking to sell my APS Intercooled TT System that I bought for my LS1 Camaro roughly 2 years ago. Plans have changed since I' first bought the system, and I am now looking to sell it. From the time I received it, the two large sealed boxes it came in have never been opened and have been stored indoors away from harmful elements. This system is ideal for use on the LS1 F-body's stock engine displacement up to about 400 ci and it meant for making large amounts of HP and torque. This system is really meant for those F-Body owners who are knowledgeable enough about forced induction and have a good understanding of what it takes to use a system like this on his/her car.

1. There is a no return policy under any conditions.
2. If you use this turbo system on your car, you are using it at your own risk and there is no warranty coverage provided by myself or by the APS manufacturer if any damage occurs.
3. If this turbo system damages your vehicle in anyway or it is incorrectly installed, I am not responsible for any damages. I am selling this product with the assumption that everything shipped to me was/is in perfect working condition from the manufacturer, and the boxes it was received in have never been opened. FYI, it is recommended that you use stronger than stock engine/fuel/tuning components to withstand the pressure that this system causes to the engine.
4. For a better description of the Turbo system, please visit APS's website for more information. Everything that is listed about the Turbo System on their website is everything I know about the product myself.


Let me know if there is anything else I should include so I am not at risk for anything in the selling process. I appreciate your help with this. I'd really like to sell the whole thing altogether to get rid of it, because I need the money for other important things. Plus, I wouldn't want to sell it piece by piece since I would have to repackage things.

i've never made a disclaimer. just put a reserve for how much you want to get for it. if no one is willing to pay that, you keep it. you also have to factor in shipping or charge it after the auction and other ebay fees.

theres tons of people on tech that want the twin turbo intercooler but most people stay away from the systems cause of the turbos...you might have luck if you split the system up.....ricer boys love buying turbos off ebay

If you want top dollar I'd find out exactly which turbos you have and then post up proof of it. Otherwise your buyers will assume that they are the crappy ones and bid accordingly.

I wouldn't go by what other websites are selling them for. Do an advanced search on eBay for completed auctions of the same item you are selling to see how much it is selling for on eBay. Sometimes if set the starting bid low, it will attract a lot of bidders and often the item will get bid up over what you originally wanted for it. I assume you have a PayPal account. If not, sign up for one. You don't want to be accepting personal checks or anything like that.

Don't leave out anything in your description...be honest and describe any problems. If it has even a scratch on it, you want to note it because you can get a crazy buyer that will say it wasn't in the description and want to return it. As for shipping, have all your shipping materials before hand so you know the exact weight the package is going to be. Then when you list it you can enter the dimensions and weight and eBay will calculate the shipping for the bidder/buyer.

also, make sure you use paypal or something safe for money transfer. factor in those costs as well.

Unfortunately I can't assist you as APS has decided not to produce any further F body twin turbo systems.

Not sure how else this can be read. Chances are they stopped selling the kits and didn't update their website- or want to leave it up there to see if they get a lot of requests. Then they might consider tooling up again... MAYBE.

Yeah, but there's much worse from much larger companies. Think "takes money, doesn't ship product, and doesn't build product until enough orders are taken".

And to answer your question Matt, there appears to be confusion over if these kits are discontinued or not. They are, according to their rep. That will matter on ebay.
