Al is slacking...2010 Camaro hits milestone
It appears that the 2010 has surpassed the 100,000 unit mark in just 8 months. So good for GM.

This is really good news, however I hope GM keeps the appeal strong by keeping it fresh and new, or else I feel that sales would decrease drastically. We cant have another 12 year generation like the 2nd generation Camaro.

Yep, its a nice milestone, and just another portion of Crow for the asshats across the internetting world that now have to belly up to the plate
1) Camaro is vaporware and will never happen. GM doesn't make performance cars
2) Camaro will suck and be a hybrid or something other ********
3) Camaro will not look like the Concept
4) Camaro will not sell 100k units in a heavily depressed market in a poor economy.
There are so many more...ugh, its glad to see exactly what I expected come true. Its good to be Big Al. I wish that local dealers were not raping for 5th gens when I wanted my car. Pine Belt is STILL marking up their 5th gens.

Over head cam V8 . I don"t wanna see that in a camaro its not a mustang and the only 350 as i recall gm doing that with is the lt5 which didnt last long... You can still squeeze some power and economy out of regular inter cammed V8s

1979 was the best sales year for the Camaro- and that was at just about the 10 year mark! But this isn't the 70s. People get bored fast.

Exactly. Im not saying they didnt sell, Im saying it wouldnt work again. Although they are already talking about a 6th generation in 2015 if Im not mistaken? So that is good news.

Torque = efficiency x displacement. so torque/liter is a good measure of efficiency right?
take a car like the 05-09ish audi s4...."high tech" 5v dohc v8, revving to 7500 rpms
302 ft lbs/4.2L = 71.9
Take a motor like the "antiquated" pushrod ls6 = 385 ft lbs/5.7 = 67.54.
Not a huge difference for a massive investment in technology. Then if you were to divide those numbers by the amount of physical space each engine actually requires, and the OHC argument is basically gone. pushrods are ftw at the moment

new ford 5.0 =390 ft/lbs/5.0=78
so, ls6=67.54/78=about 15 % better?

Ugh, not this...
Gen V will be more powerful and more efficent then the current engines. Use of direct injection and some new valvetrain enhancements should improve mpg a bit.

It's all about torque curve, not peak.

Thank you sir and it is 100% proven that a push rod motor will always have more low end torque then an overhead cam
