Went to Centralia, PA this past weekend.

The town was pretty cool with all the steam coming out of the ground. For everyone that doesn't know about Centralia, PA, it use to be a mining town until the dump caught fire and then caught the coal in the mines on fire, and it's been burning ever since. I've also heard that it will burn for something around another 150 years! And here's some pictures for your viewing pleasure:

This is the steam that's coming from the fire underground.

Then we came across some windmills.

The first one we came across was marked D-28 and counted down from there until it went to D-4. We wanted to see the B's and A's, but we couldn't find them.

Very cool photos! That looks like a pretty cool place, I might try to head out there this summer at some point. You are taking all kinds of roadtrips lately...

Yeah, it's getting about that time now that the weather is really nice during the day. I'm actually planning another trip to Breezewood, PA to the abandoned PA turnpike. It looks really cool. There are three tunnels on that section of closed road. Can't wait to go there either.

Badass!!! This is the place Silent Hill was based off of. My buddy went a few years back & I was pissed he didn't tell me.

Gotta watch that place though, they tell you not to walk or drive there because you could fall into a sink hole at any given moment, seeing as the ground's been baking all these years. And if you fall in it's instant death due to the gas buildup and temperature. I heard if you fall in a sink hole you'll likely be dead before you even hit the bottom.

There are still a few people living there too supposedly, stubborn asses who don't want to leave they're homes. F' THAT!!

It never ceases to amaze me how "Mankind" seems intent on destroying this place we call EARTH. We bomb it/ burn it/ poison it/ cut away the woodland/ make species extinct/ kill one another in the name of their GOD and then wonder if global warming might flood the earth. Now go back, grab a can of car wax and do something mindless and not worry about tomorrow!

Depends on where you live in Jersey. You can take 80 west to 81 south and it's about 20 minutes south on 81 from 80 in PA.

All the places with the steam and cracked roads yes. Where we were with the Windmills, I don't think so. We took a quad trail and came across the Windmills on accident, lol.
