Opti people

I hear people complain about it all the time. What are the signs that you have a bad one? I have a problem with my car and I think it has something to do with the ignition. It is intermittent, the idle will get rough and when I accelerate it will studder and have a hard time going into the next gear. Then 10 minutes later it is perfectly fine. I cruised around all day Sunday with no problems and yesterday it started doing it, so I parked it before I got stuck on the road somewhere. Any ideas?

Well I would get that checked out first.

Check out the link I posted, it should help you narrow it down some.

Even though the SES goes off and on, the PCM will store the code(s). Might want to have it scanned regardless.

how much throttle are you giving it when it does this? is it always warmed up? is it always cold? how new are the plug wires? mine was kind of like that when i had a loose rotor screw but it was also a cammed car so it was a little harder to notice at idle

Take it to an autoparts store that does free scanning and get the codes, post that and then you'll have a better idea what is happening. Don't start throwing parts at the car until ou know what the computer is saying is the problem.

It says he has a 94, its tricky to find a place that will scan obd1 cars. You have to have a real obd1 scanner for that car, you cant jump the aldl pins either

My 95 firehawk does basically the same thing. Everytime when You start it up it runs like ****. I give it gas and it seems like there is a clog in the exhaust or something. After about 5 mins it goes away and runs fine untill I turn it off and restart it again. We have no Check engine light on and it passed NJ State inspection back in September. The car has 71,000 miles on it. I was thinking it could be a Oti spark.
