As I posted in the other thread, I may have a rear for you.

I was going to make a post like this... Whatever I can do I'll help out as well.

Its just the type of ABS the car has.

If it has ABS/Traction control its a 4 Channel car, just ABS 3 Channel.

Yes, no TCS means 3 channel. Also a quick way to check is to look at the rear itself. If there is a wire plugged ontot he top of the carrier housing, thats 3 channel. If there is one wire going to each side of the axle, thats 4 channel.

I have a pair of 16" wheels and tires you can borrow for the time being so you can roll it around. If you need a hand doing the repairs and / or swapping the rear, shoot me a pm. Actually, emolineaux has a set of 16 rims for sale for $40. You might want to shoot him a PM.

Here's a couple on Craigslist that look promising and are near you:

http://newjersey.craigslist.org/ctd/1736808315.html
(not sure if he's parting it out but it's been up there a while so he may be willing to)
or
http://newjersey.craigslist.org/pts/1736772099.html

They are both 97's, so I'm not sure if the parts are the same, but I'm sure one of the more knowledgeable members will correct it if it's not :P

I've got mine up and running again, so if you need help, feel free to hit me up! I'm no expert, but am pretty close to you and if nothing else, am free labor!

hey man it happens... thats why they are called accidents... i have an extra set of 16" silver 5 star firebird wheels (the non-turned spoke style) if you are interested shoot me a pm id rather not just sell one wheel but im not looking to make a killing... they have tires on them but arent the greatest shape and arent correct factory size either... let me know... i have a 10 bolt also but it was a 4 channel rear so that probably wont help you.. also really look under there well and make sure that none of your lower control arms are bent or the panhard bar isnt bent either... the stock parts arent very strong and it wouldnt take much... i have a stock panhard bar if you need it ill just give you that i was going to throw it away anyway... but i think i through out most of my other stock suspension stuff... but ill check if you need any of that crap you can have it also... if it have it of coarse

the pic where it shows the damage from behind with the hatch closed shows the 1/4 panel is tucked under the hatch. im almost guarantying that the unibody is tweaked to the point that its trashed.

yea i saw that too about the 1/4 but with the buckle right over the wheel well it seem it may just have folded in on itself in that area, if the main rail in the back are good, it shouldnt be that bad to fix, but maybe require a new 1/4 which gets into a whole diff issue about that cost to change

well i know the 1/4 panel is messed up. like i say in my first posting. as of right now all im worried about if it is possible is getting it moveable agian. if thats possible i might keep it as a project and buy a beater DD. if its totaled then im just gunnaput it on ebay and try to get what ever i can for it.

do your self a favor and look closely at it... look at the passenger side hatch to 1/4 gap... if its really wide and the other side is tucked under like that... it means the frame rails are shifted and will need a frame machine to pull back... judging by how it looks its probably a total.. just in the 1/4 replacement alone depending on how bad it really looks... going by the pics that 1/4 is possibly repairable... do you self a favor and before you go start buying parts really think about if its worth it to fix it... there are plenty of other v6 birds around you can prob even find one in red... hope this helps you a little bit

dont worry. this is why im leaving it to my brother to see if its worth fixing. like i keep saying if it is all i plan on doing is replacing the rear and making it moveable agian.

unibody thats shifted is almost a guarantee total. try to open the doors and see if any are stuck or bang when opening. thats a sure sign its totaled

Oh, wow, I just read this thread. That really sucks. Your car was nice and straight, just needed a little paint on the nose.

Call Allamuchy Auto Salvage and see what they want for a full rear end. They seem to have reasonable prices. Check them out here: http://www.allamuchyautorecycling.com/

Good luck and keep us posted on the progress.
