Opinions on Tach

Hey guys,

So i'm considering putting a dash mounted larger tach in my car (96 Trans Am). I never considered this, but since I have started racing, I really hate the feeling of looking down at my Tach to shift at the proper RPM. I don't want to look like a ricer but I feel like having this would really be beneficial.

What do you think? If you're for it, where do you think the best place is to mount it? I was thinking maybe on the left side of the steering wheel on the dash.

Thanks for the opinions!

yup, a shift light will look much cleaner and more discrete depending where you put it. you won't have to worry about holes if you throw it in the vent too!

If you want the tach for launching then it want it more centered so you can look at it and the tree. Having it off to the side would only be good in one lane, the other lane you'd have to look away from the tree. If it's just for shifting then a shift light may be a better option.

FYI, If your running a stock ignition, on the harness near the ign module is a 1" square black box, that is the tach drive, you splice into that.
