Value of having a job

Dropped the G8 off at the dealer to have the trunk mechanism replaced. I go to pick it up, and one of the service managers is looking for my keys. I see the car in the parking lot and they mention they may be in it so I tell them I will go look. As I walk halfway there, I hear what I thought was my car firing up and then rev. I see someone is in the car and backs it up figuring he was told to pull it upfront for me. Well he makes a left to head towards the back of the building and proceeds to floor it and rips it behind the building.

I look back to see if the service desk saw this and sure enough the manager was right there and saw the whole thing. I yell to him "WTF was that??!?" and he says he doesn't know but is clearly not happy. The manager storms into the service area to look to where the guy went. All the techs have the "oh s&%t" look and as I wait for a few minutes, the car pulls up with the service manager in it. He gets out and tells me that person no longer works at this dealership. He is extremely apologetic and I go on my way.

Now while I don't think the guy should have lost his job maybe it was his last strike and that was it. In this economy, you would think people would value their jobs. Seems like some really don't care. The manager handled my frustration well but my lack of trust continues to be tested ever where I go. I won't mention the name of the dealership as I don't think the dumb actions of one idiot should tarnish the entire organization.

I prob will get a call tomorrow when my service guy gets back.

Should set rev limited to 3000 and locked out all gears cept 1st, you really only have yourself to blame.

Please treat F8TAL better next time.

He absolutely should have lost his job, period, end of discussion. I've NEVER EVER let that **** happen with my techs. Luckily A) I have older, mature techs and B) It's a Buick dealership.

Though we do have some customers with cars other than Buicks(some are performance vehicles), I'd never even dream of doing that myself or letting my techs abuse a car. In this business trust is everything, with so much competition out there that's a sure fire way to lose a customer for life.

I hope he likes having no $$ and eating Ramen noodles for a while....

I actually have the dashhawk on record each time someone has the car. It records peak rpm, 0-60, coolant temp, etc.

Yea, things happen and its not like I don't beat on the gas every now and again. Just prefer it be done by myself since I pay for it lol. Guarantee if they broke it, they would blame it on my bolt-ons...

This was at a buick/gmc dealership but can't speak for the age of the techs. I don't know if it was a tech or just a car wash jockey. The car was spotless when I brought it in so it didn't need a wash.

Randy is my guy and this is why I go to the dealer. As I mentioned, I like the dealer a lot and I've never had a problem with them. Randy was not there when I picked the car up though. Again, rather not tarnish the name of the dealer since they handled things appropriately besides hiring the tool bag that likes to beat on customer cars.

that guy should have definatly been fired, he got what he deserved. the only time a tech should ever drive aggressively in any manny is if a problem occurs at WOT.....other than that they should drive as safely as possible...you want a car to beat on....buy your own
