New Daily Driver

So as some of you have seen on the Welcome / Intro's I posted my plans to convert my 95 v6 to a v8 of some sorts over time and pretty much restore it to as close to mint condition as I can. That being said I needed something that was good on gas and something that was fun to drive as well. I picked up a 2008 Cobalt SS today from Konner Chevy in West Caldwell. It was definitely a fun ride to test drive but I can't wait to actually get to test out the turbo when I get on the highway. I pick up the car tomorrow. It is SUPER clean, has 24k miles, and has pretty much all the options I think and its certified pre-owned so I have the balance of the factory warranty until August 2013. From what I hear they are really fun cars, great on gas, and very responsive to mods. Here are some pics from the dealer site, but I plan on having my friend (Camvill) take some good shots with his DSLR. I got it for $15,200 - $3,600 less than KBB value so I think I got a good deal.

They are nice cars, and handle pretty well. My friend has one and dyno'd 310 fwhp with a catback, intake, and tune.

Car handles well. Watch out for a gas smell its the fuel line cracking away from the pump some cars got a recall some didn't. Power steering sucks even after my recall. My sun roof leaked fixed under warranty and then began to leak worse... also all four(two original and two replacements) of my remotest broke... I did finally manage to get good gas mileage(29 mpg) last tank though. Good luck and hopefully yours won't be like mine!

Good luck with the new whip! At least they had plenty of pics and you could see what kind of shape the car was in - looks mint, congrats!

Back in February Konner had an '04 Monte SS listed for sale with low miles, but no pics. I called to find out if it was in good shape, and I mentioned it was like a 45 minute drive and didn't want to waste my time. The salesman told me to come on out and see it, so I sat in a ton of traffic on Rt 80 with my son and took a chance. We met the salesman and he said, "Oh, we have the car in the garage out back, come take a look." So we go through and there it is - looks great from far away. Up close, EVERY panel is scratched, like someone dragged boxes across the hood, roof, and trunk, and some were through to the primer underneath. On top of that, the sunroof didn't open and they didn't know why. Grrrrrrr....these were things you should have told me over the phone. I said to the guy "Thanks for wasting my time" and we left.

yeah i was glad to see that the 08-10s didn't come with the terribly ugly wing and they gave it the lower more sleek not-so-ricer looking one

haha i'm not bent out of shape at all just messing. Yeah they were considered the replacement for the cavaliers. The Cruze is the new replacement for the Cobalt. My friends have just been busting my chops for getting a Cobalt albeit a Cobalt with some serious cajones..

i like the steering wheel...

it'd be sweet if that could be put on my Camaro and have the airbag+steering wheel controls work.

2008 was the turbo motor which also received new suspension setup. This car is the performance bargain of the century. Runs high 13s and is only 2 seconds shy of the 2010 camaro SS on the ring.

look at the cars it bested on C&D's lightening lap.

I just picked the car up tonight... and I realized that it DOES have a sunroof. Idk HOW i missed that fact when I test drove it...anyway... this car is insanely fun to drive... cheap to fill up (even when i have to use 93 octane) and i got 31mpg while driving it aggressively
