My 1st Bose Home theater system
Well we had a 5.1 Surround sound JVC system that stopped working a couple weeks ago. After spending 2 weeks looking for a new system we decided to give Bose a try. We purchased a CineMate 2.1 system because it sounded great and was under 500.00.. I didnt know how it would sound or compare to my old 1000 watt 5 speaker full surround system we had before. This system came with a Sub, and 2 little speakers.. Our living room is 20 by 15 and we sit about 15 feet from the tv. All I have to say is Wow.. This system sounds amazing. I cant believe how those 2 little speakers that are mouted next to the TV can fill the whole room and actually make it sound like there are speakers behind you. The Sound quality is outstanding and the base is unbelievable as well. This is my 1st Bose home theater system purchase ever and I dont think I could purchase another system other then Bose in the future.. I have had a Sony 5.1 surround, JVC ,and a Panasonic 5.1 surround and this 2.1 Bose system blows them out of the water. If you are looking for a new Surround sound then I would check out Bose and see what you think..

So, its not "true" 5.1? IE... playing a video game and you can hear someone sneaking up behind you via the rear corners...
Pretty cool that it can do that though without the rears.

Bose makes some good stuff, but i don't like simulated surround sound. 7.1 is where its at!

There are no speakers behind us at all like there was with our JVC but somehow these Bose speakers make it sound like there is speakers behind us and it sounds alot better then my JVC or my old Sony 5.1 did.. Tonight is going to be the real test when we watch Xmen 1st Class on the Bluray player..

Bose makes some nice stuff for sure, but it's overpriced for what you get. If you take the time to shop for a good receiver and speakers (not the $200 home theater in a box setups) you'll blow any of the Bose setups out of the water every time.
If space and ease of setup are at a premium though, those Bose 2.1 setups do work well.

I paid 420 for the Bose system.. I paid 499 for my JVC system and 350 for the Sony system I had before. Both of those systems were 5.1 and had a reciever/DVD player and did not sound as good as this Bose system without a reciever and only 2 speakers and a sub. For the sound that I get out of my 420 dollar system I think its pretty amazing and I dont think for 400.00 there is alot out there that can compare with it. I tend to think that the systems I had before were not the bottom of the line models but a avg-good surround sound systems. If the system I got from Bose is the bottom of the line model then I cant imagine what the higher end models sound like..
