Tired of it all...any help...
My fiance had a dr appointment for our baby due in Feb in Neptune the other day. She borrowed my truck and while she was inside with the ob, some dirtbag took it upon themselves to take a look in the back of my truck. I have a tonneu cover so theres nothing to see in passing, they had to open the bed. They stole a big toy tank I had bought for my three year old godson and 3 out of 4 bushwhacker fender flares I had planned on installing on the truck this week. (if anyone comes across them for sale on ebay or craigslist, PLEASE pass along any contact info for them so I can meet up and "purchase" them back)
Now I guess I can partially be of blame for leaving this stuff in the bed of my truck, and for not spending all that money on the fiberglass tonnou with the lock to protect things back there, but come on, seriously....somebody is that desperate that they strolled through the parking lot of a ****ing pregnancy clinic opening up truck beds for **** to take...
A few weeks ago my pregnant fiance literally chased off some kid who broke into her mothers car at 4 am stealing the change in Little Egg Harbor while he thought we were all sleeping..It just so happened we were up late watching a movie and I wanted to step outside for a cigarette..
All this only a few months after my house was robbed and all my dewalt and Milwaukee power tools (5 grand worth easily) for my electrical business was taken along with my engine hoist, wire and other personal items, prescriptions, etc. AND they made sure to KEY my new 2011 Camaro SS on the way out!!
Just so tired of this ****.....I'm a pretty honest and hard working guy as some of you guys know..its so frustrating it makes me want to break down and cry having these things I worked so hard for just taken by someone who is probably just going to dump it for pennies on the dollar for some drugs...
Just needed to vent..thanks guys..

Wow Steve, that really sucks.
How bad was the car keyed? Sounds like you should stay away from LEH, I know you had issues there before.

Interesting.. a person that knows tools are worth money. Sounds like you need to get a few vicious attack dogs or move elsewhere. That really blows.. hope luck turns your way soon cause no honest man should be robbed of his hard work.

meh its only articles. as long as you and your pregnant fiance are fine things can be replaced, keyed paint can be fixed and keeping your temper under control is vital at the moment. losing control of it and putting ''someone in their place'' can be the difference between your child growing up with a father or just a dna donor behind bars.

Agree... material things can always be replaced, don't let your anger get the best of you. Karma is a bitch.

Moving is not always an option, especially with a baby on the way. I do agree with the guard dog idea, but again the dog would need to be ok with a baby. I have a pit mix and she is sweet as can be unless she thinks someone in the family is under duress. Something to at least consider because any kind of dog would give you a fair amount of warning that something is wrong.

i disagree with the moving. id say get yourself a nice dog(rotty, pit, boxer) and get some cameras on that house. i live in a nice nieghborhood and i still have cameras on my house and my garage down the street.
and if your worried bout the dog and the new born it wont be an issue, theyll bond together as they both get older

Sorry to hear that man. I own a construction company and have had these thefts happen to me too. Last year working in a "rich" area in pt.pleasant, somebody snatched the $250 GPS of the windshield of one of my work trucks, stupid idiot didn't even take the power cord...
you have 2 problems:
1. Neptune... do I need to say anymore? place is a chethole and full of theives,crackheads,etc...
2. LEH nice place (landwise) but full of meth addicts
As for Guard dog, good idea, but you don't need a pit or a rotti. As much as I can't stand Beagles (cuz my mom always had them) they are excellant "alert dogs"...
They have superior hearing and will Howl like a mofo anytime someone is in the yard, walking down the street, etc... the damn dogs howl when they hear a leaf blowin accross the yard. And they are great family pet, and awesome with kids.
Again, sorry for your loss of tools and such. PM me if your looking for anything in particular, I am always upgrading to new tools and selling my good used ones.

Sorry about all the ******** you've been going though but this is good advice. That and get some decent video cameras when you have some spare cash.

Are you friends/family with any law enforcement in town or nearby?

Horrible round of bad luck but as many have mentioned, as pissed as I would be, keeping your cool is the most important thing.
If you do find those items up on Craig's list, get the police involved if you are sure you can prove the items were yours.
Hopefully you have insurance for the business items and obviously the car. A few deductibles later and you will back to normal.
As mentioned, you could also put up a NRA sign in the front yard and maybe a couple motion-based lights that will come on when someone decides to step onto your property. Even fake security signs can even deter someone from attempting to steal anything and move onto the next house.

I'm going to be different here and say that crime happens everywhere... it sounds like you didn't learn from the first theft and you expect all members of society to be productive. The best security system in the world does nothing if you don't use it. Even if you do use an burglar alarm it might take anywhere from 5-15 minutes to be notified and god knows how long for a cop to show up if you don't answer the phone.
Get a good bed cover with a lock if your gonna keep stuff in there and try the best to lock down the house. Just remember, if someone wants it they'll get it.

Anybody else find it horrible that the majority of the world works a hard living to buy what they want and then needs to buy more things (such as security/dogs/etc) to protect their assets from the few scumbags out there?
Plenty of stuff to steal from my house/property but it will more than likely end with an ass beating if anybody is home.

This is true. I'm there all the time and it's quiet and usually family oriented there.
@Zraff my family bought a dog when I first moved into Galloway because someone was a victim of burglary up the street. Got to do what you got to do, some folks are scum.
