Going to look at a 2002 ws6..

Im going to check out a 2002 ws6 this upcoming week. It has 70k miles, hott cams, kooks headers with full exhaust, slp intake, performance chip, and hurst shifter. the odd part is he only wants $10,000 for it? seems like maybe its too good to be true? exterior looks extremely clean also. is there anything i should be weary of when checking out this car? thanks, Mike.

i dont make it a habit to buy cars with work done to them. even more so when the owner of the car with work done to it has no idea what kind of work was done to it.

That price seems kinda high anyways but it is a ws6. Still, an internally modded car that has an owner with little knowledge of what is/was done would make me walk away.

I would check NADA too, still its a modded car with an owner that doesn't seem to know much. Spend your money wisely.

hell theres no guarantee that the car is even a real ws6 at this point. it could just be a trans am with a hood and some work done to it...or it could just be a car with exhaust and the guy is adding those things on as ''bait'' to entice people to buying the car without being able to ''confirm'' the mods because you cant ''see'' them

this is probably the best advice you will get out of all of your replies.

on a more serious note...not saying this is the case here but be weary of flood damaged cars with sandy only being a few months back I could see some of those cars hitting the market up here. just a suggestion if you think the price is so low.

Just make sure the muffler bearings are good.

Look over the car well. As stated before, the owner seems clueless. I looked at a car that was "built well" and it had two different heads on it.

I honestly didn't even think of that. The car is located in central jersey but still could've just been moved.

I definitely will and I think I'll be having a family friend mechanic come with me also now. As for being "built" I hope that isn't the case

Well, I sold a true SS for $9k 2 years ago. It was clean and had a full cammed and bolt on LS6 crate engine. One owner, all documented, receipts, pictures dyno sheet etc etc. The kid got a great deal and I didn't misrepresent the car in any way. I'm just saying that there are good deals out there even with modded cars. You just need to know who to trust and they need to be able to back it up.

(Yup its stroked all right I paid 10 grand to have it done but know nothing about it where it was done or what parts used) Most car guys have heard this a few times, I know I have.

Its a different story if the seller can produce receipts and knows the car by telling you who did the work , when and what parts were used. When i sell a car (and I do a couple a year) I have the paperwork handy at time of sale.

Make it easy on yourself I will sell ya my 94 Z28 Vert save me on paying storage for it. Lightly modified with all paperwork I miss having a tahoe

If it has custom paint it's a dead giveaway that there is something wrong with it. Just be leery of custom paint.
