GM Onstar/Navigation antenna
Anyone here know if the Onstar antenna will work for other purposes? In the Suburban I will have 2 GPS enable devices, so I will need two antenna's (actually 3, but it's not a big deal on the third). I was already planning on putting a GM XM antenna on the roof for my Sirius, so I was thinking if I got the XM/GPS/Onstar antenna it would prevent me from putting 2 up there. I am wondering if I can use the Onstar for a second GPS instead though, or if not a cell phone booster, and have to go with two antenna's anyway. Or if I can split the signal off the one GPS antenna to work two GPS devices?

If I could CB from the new head unit, I would, but I don't want more devices in there, nor a giant antenna

Is the dash on the burban metal on the top? I have put the gps antenna under the dash without problems on a few vehicles with plastic dashpads

Yes it is, but since the angle of the windshield is very steep there is not a lot of "sight" to the sky, especially when I am driving a certain direction I lose signal on the Sirius and sometimes the GPS speedo. I am definitely putting a factory GM antenna up there, so I figure I may as well kill two birds by using a multi antenna, I was hoping to get even more use out of one.
I spoke with a vendor on ebay about them, and it turns out they use one antenna for Onstar and GPS? Thats what they told me anyway, GM splits the signal in the car, the same wire is used for the Onstar and then it also runs to the radio module for navigation. I am probably going to have to get one with the three connections and just try it and see what works. They were a bit confused and said they haven't sold one for retrofit like this before, just people trying to upgrade factory radios, so they aren't sure if what I want to do will work

Our new Onstar/sirius GM vehicles have one fin antenna. I have no idea how they work it, but that I know.
