My Daily Driver '87 SS For Sale...
Pics are available at www.bowtiepower.com/87SSForSale.html
My '87 SS is white with mostly original paint. The car has very, very minimal rust, especially for being a Northeastern car. There is a tiny bit on the inside of the lower door seams (of course) and a little bit on one of the seams where the top of the quarter panel meets the inside of the trunk opening. There is no rust at all in the quarters, trunk, floors, or frame. I removed the stock stripes and left the SS decals on the doors and trunklid. She rides on 2002 ZQ8 S10 16x8" wheels with 235/55 Goodyear Eagle GAs.
The burgundy interior is in great shape, except for the carpet which is worn away by the driver door. The headliner was redone shortly before I bought it in September of 2003, and I believe the driver seat was done at the same time, since there is NO sagging in the lower cushion. All trim is in great shape, with minimal fading on the door panels and seats. It has power windows, tilt wheel, rear defroster, and a stock radio, which all work fine. I added an underhood light, and will include a power-trunk release setup - just haven't had time to install it.
Mechanically, the car is very sound. It just turned 122K miles. I bought it with 110K miles on it, and replaced the front brakes at that time (new high-quality rotors, Timken bearings, and Raybestos pads) along with new Moog poly swaybar endlinks. The upper and lower radiator hoses were also replaced at 110K, and the coolant was flushed and filled. I did a full tuneup with a K&N filter in the stock air cleaner, MSD cap, rotor, and wires, and new AC Delco sparkplugs. I also installed the exhaust from my old '85 SS - a Random Technology cat with a custom 2 1/4" cat-back system, Hooker Aerochamber mufflers, and tailpipes that exit behind the rear wheels like a Grand National. The original hangers are in place on the frame if you want to convert back to the stock-style exhaust. All emissions are in place and functional.
There is no slop in the steering since I swapped in a low-mileage steering shaft from an '88 Cutlass with a nice boot, which has no cracks or grease blown out of it, and a nice rag joint. I'll include a complete tight steering linkage that was pirated from my '88 SS (only a few thousand miles at most on all parts), along with new upper A-arms with brand new rubber bushings and balljoints already pressed into them. I'll also inlcude new rear lower control arms from a 2002 WS6 Trans Am (nice stiff fresh
bushings).
She has a few minor issues. The AC could use a recharge because it has a slow leak. I converted it over to 134-A and recharged it at the beginning of last summer, and froze my butt off the entire season because it blew nice and cold. Recently the compressor won't cycle when the defroster is activated, so I guess it's time for a charge again. Other issues are the typical Chevy V8 smoke-on-startup, and a Code 53 once the car has been running on the highway for over 20 minutes. I installed a new EGR valve and solenoid hoping that would cure the problem, but it hasn't. It hasn't affected mileage, since it will still get 20 mpg on the highway cruising at 65-75 mph.
I'd like to get $3800 for it, and I'm pretty firm only because it's a fair price for the car with all the extras I'm including (exta stock intake manifold and EFE valve). The car is located in Northern New Jersey, near NYC.

Well, I will keep the other one with the TPI. I just need something more suitable for hauling kids as a daily ride. I have to be an acrobat now to get my son in that car; 2 would kill me for sure.

Sorry Ian, I'd be in the same situation as I'm in now. I have a ton of pics available now on my site at www.bowtiepower.com/87SSForSale.html if you know of anyone that may be interested.
